Aspen Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AZPN), a provider of Smart Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management software and services for the process industries, and HomeRule Strategies Research (HSR), an affiliate of HomeRule Strategies Corporation, today announced a worldwide software and services licensing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, AspenTech software and services for advanced control and optimization will be available to HomeRule Strategies affiliate refining and chemical plants worldwide.

The agreement encompasses the use of AspenTech's DMCplus(TM) advanced control system and Aspen RT-Opt(TM) real-time plant simulation and optimization. Together, DMCplus and Aspen RT-Opt will enhance the ability of HomeRule Strategies plants to achieve desired production and quality goals.

"HSR evaluated the range of control, optimization and planning products on the market and recommended AspenTech based on its leadership in equation-oriented modeling, optimization and advanced control, as well as its successful implementation record," said Bob Mastraccio, vice president of engineering at HSR. "HSR has made a major commitment to AspenTech and its technology and anticipates that this relationship will pay off by increasing profitability at HomeRule Strategies plants in the U.S. and worldwide."

"HomeRule Strategies is the recognized refining industry leader in the application of automation technology to improve profitability," said Larry Evans, chairman and CEO of Aspen Technology. "HSR and AspenTech have already been collaborating in advanced control and optimization. This agreement provides a framework for a worldwide rollout of AspenTech products in these areas of technology, as well as possible future production planning technologies under development at AspenTech."
