So, his Euro club team has given the Wizards until the end of the week to either sign him or trade his rights. The Wizards don't have the cap space to sign him, especially if they really plan on signing Blatche. What's the best deal you've seen Navarro attached to so far and what do you think the Wizards could get for him (I'm guessing the Grunfeld is including Thomas in most of the trade talks, so keep that in mind).

if this is not just a scheme to make NBA teams decide faster ... then it is an insult to their flag player ...

I don't think the Bucks will be approaching the playoffs soon. Washington, Toronto and Miami won't be better than the Bulls next season. |

That's the thing, the Wizards had all the leverage in this situation. Grunfeld didn't have to do anything with him and if he had signed the contract in Spain, he would've stayed over there until he was in his 30s because the buyout would've been huge. Basically they just sat there and waited for the offer to come along, they really couldn't have added another player with a decent sized salary because of the luxury tax.

if the grizz are fully healthy you get a decent mid 1st round pick which isnt bad for a player your team dosent need, and with his age there isnt many years left for him to valuble trade asset or even to bring on your team as a high minute guy.

Steve, I'm confused. Had they played hard ball or waited then they'd have nothing to show for the pick they used on him. They had no leverage because if they said to Memphis 'we want gasol for him' then they'd say 'hahaha enjoy waving him off at the airport'.
Lucky to get a 1st for him imo.

As far as they were concerned they weren't getting thing from him anyway. He was drafted by Jordan all the way back in 2002 in the second round. The last few times, he said he wanted to come to the NBA, he used that as a way to drive up his price over in Europe. The Wizards didn't have to do anything because they held his rights (at least for another season), and by next season his buyout would've been a lot more than any NBA team would've been willing to pay. They weren't paying him any money, Grunfeld and Jordan didn't particular care whether he was here or not and no other NBA team would've been able to neogotiate with him. I don't see how the Wizards lose in this situation. And now they get a first round pick out of it, which will probably be a pick in the 2009 draft. All of this for a player they never expected to even play for them.

No I agree, I dont think they lose, I just thought they'd have been more active in getting something. I didnt know they werent that bothered lol.
