PG-Arenas
SG-Stevenson
SF-Butler
PF-Jamison
C-Haywood

Arenas , Butler and Jamison all provide scoring. All three are good scorers.
Stevenson and Haywood provide defense both are really good defenders.

Then the Wiz's have two really good players in Daniels and Hayes coming off the bench.

Wizards Starting Lineup

PG Gilbert Arenas
SG DeShawn Stevenson
SF Caron Butler
PF Antawn Jamison
C Brendan Haywood

I really like this lineup. With Hayes hopefully healthy, Blatche and Taylor improving, and Etan Thomas contributing, there's no way the Wizards miss the playoffs this year. Now gogo, said to start Daniels and Thomas. That wouldn't be a good idea. Daniels' best years as been as a resevre plus he's better off the bench because he more of a combo guard. You come make a statement for starting Thomas over Haywood but Haywood is....7 foot?

this will definitly be good for them

I still think we need more at center offensively, cause Ruffin is non-existent as an offensive threat and Etan thomas is only a minor threat. Haywood also is not very threatning, even though he has improved.

Agree with the starting 5. But I think Hayes is more ready to contribute than Blatche. E Thomas also will be a key reserve, that will give you 9 deep in the regular rotation. But we need Sonfaila to be healthy, plus Thomas and Hayes to "stay healthy" (they have difficulty to do so in the past).

The problem with replacing Jeffries with Stevenson in the staring lineup is that, last year they are 7', 6'11", 6'9", 6'7", and 6'4" (ranked from tallest to the shortest), that's a pretty tall lineup. This year, they are 7', 6'9", 6'7", 6'5" and 6'4". If Haywood is replaced by Thomas as some have suggested, then they will be 6'10", 6'9", 6'7", 6'5" and 6'4", pretty much shorter than the opposing team in all positions but PG in any given night. (Phoenix is an exception, but Nash makes it work, while Arenas is a different type of guard.)

In addition, Jeffries is a good offensive rebounder, so their second chance scoring opportunity will be reduced. OTOH, Wizards also gave out tons of offensive rebounds, the personnel change alone certainly did not address this issue (i.e., no bulky PF who takes up space). Hopefully, they can make a better, conscious effort in blocking out opponent rebounds.

I have always thought he was a good player. If he can stay away from injuries this year he could be the x factor.
