C Jury is out on this rookie

Are you seriously telling me Patrick O'Bryant is the starting center? The guy was dominated in summer league!

Quote from: "cselby"
PF Just your average Joe

Murphy is not the average Joe, he blows. He has no post game, he plays no form of defense (really, he doesn't even try to play help defense), he's always the last one down the floor, he steals rebounds form teammates (J-Rich has given him the stink eye a time or two) etc. etc. No other starting power forward gave up more statistically than Troy Murphy. When Troy Murphy is on the floor the Warriors give up 5.5 more points, the next worst is Diogu and we only give up 1.5 more. When Murphy is on the floor we get outscored, when he is off the floor we outscore the opponents. There is a reason the Warriors play .500 ball when Murphy is injured.

I call it Murphy ball. Slow pace, no ball movement, no defense, outside shooting basket ball. It's a lethal combination of boredom and failure.

Quote from: "cselby"
SF Can't stand him, TERRIBLE defender

Terrible defender? He gave up the least statistically on the Warriors. He outplayed LeBron James, Lamar Odom, Andrea Kiralinko, Boris Diaw, Rashard Lewis etc. etc. If you look at his stats and his opponents they are almost identical, and that's saying something about his defense considering how bad he did offensively this year. Just because he's whit and hated by fans doesn't mean he's a poor defender. If you look at the numbers the Warriors actually play better when he is on the floor.

Quote from: "cselby"
SG Why hasn't he been in an All-Star game?

He's just not THAT good (Kobe/T-Mac).

PG Davis
SG Richardson
SF Dunleavy
PF Murphy
C Foyle

O yeah, B.Davis has been in 2 all-star games. One in 2002, and the other in 2004. J-Rich not having a all-star game is beyong me and he deserves at least one.

Problem is look at the SG depth in the west?  Its ridiculous.  We need to rack up some wins in order for him to get there.  If the warriors are over .500 this year with Richardson posing similar #s to last year, it will take a miracle to keep him out of the All Star Game.  Till than, it'll just be a dream.

PG-Baron

SG-J-Rich
all-star...

SF/PF-Ike /Murph
You rotate who is sf and who is pf based on who they are playing. Murph has the height to throw off some of the skinnier players and Ike can push them around. And if the guy is a real player like LeBron, Melo, TMac etc. then J-Rich is gonna be on him anyways. On offense Murph is a sf in a pf body, so let him play the 3. Ike's the exact opposite a pf in a sf body so let him bang down low, it doesn't matter who guards him because Don Nelson is gonna have us run anyway, so the half court won't be that important.

C-Andris
Adonal, Patrick O'Bryant (who has the most Irish name on a black guy EVER), Andris will all play about 16 minutes each since none of them can stay out of foul trouble, but give thee start to Andris since hes the most athletic out of the three and will be able to run in Nellie's wide open offense and finish fastbreaks since he has the best hands out of the three.

seems like the warriors have a pretty good team this season with Mike Dunleavy, Mickael Pietrus, Dee Brown, Monta Ellis coming off the bench

ideas or suggestions?

First off, Dunleavy will start at SF(or Pietrus), Murphy would be WAY too slow to play the position.  2nd, I would say they look awful except for Richardson, Davis and maybe Troy Murphy.  I also kind of like the potential of Pietrus.  Al else is at best, unproven.

After reading the article on Nelson's interview that I posted in the other thread it looks like this now:

Davis - pg
Richardson - sg
Pietrus - sf
Dunleavy - pf
Murphy - c

Who woulda thunk it?

Nelson plans to use Dunleavy's speed and will have help underneath (a lot of double teaming) to counteract the mismatches and then try and run them offensively. With running offense they will probably get a lot of open outside shots which most of the starters ought to make. That's the game Nelson likes to play and it will work sometimes especially if all the guys hustle. He sure will have enough bigs coming off the bench if either Dunleavy or Murphy gets overwhelmed underneath if he needs them.

PG Baron Davis - when hes healthy and fit the warriors can do magic, needs to improve defensive intensity
SG - Monta Ellis - unlimited potential
SF - Jason Richardson - bonafide all star on offense, good effort on defense still needs to improve
PF - Ike Diogu -
C - Andris Biedrins

Troy Murphy is an awful defensive player and has a negative +/- every year no matter what, very very soft
Mike Dunleavy - huge bust of a player, bad defender, unimaginative offensive player, cant even shoot all that well for a white player
Adonal Foyle - not a difference maker
Mickael Pietrus - needs to keep his  game under control, not ignore his defense his best attribut in favor of being flashy on offense

Stop calling for Obryan or Biedrens to start at Center!!! Nelson has made his decision already. While it might not fit conventon, I am definitely MORE excited to see the Warriors play fast ball than fat *** ball. By next summer 2 or 3 of those bigs will be on other teams rosters.

The latest (with Richardson sidelined) is
Davis - 1
Wagner - 2
Pietrus - 3
Dunleavy - 4
Murphy - 6

until Richardson returns
