problem with Romo is that he's a choker and the numbers back it up too.  Romo has glossy/elite numbers in the 1st three quarters of games and then his QBR drops to 55 in the 4th quarter.  watch the Cowboys enough and you'd see how his level of play drops as the game goes on and the pressure builds.  can't get away with that at QB, let alone as the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

that said, i'd obviously still take Romo over Flacco because Romo's largely a good QB.  most would ( Cowboys fans probably wouldn't because they've seen Romo choke enough and they think everybody can do a better job).  but hyping up Flacco because he has playoff wins under his belt, like he won the games on his own, is typical idiocy.  if " playoff performance " is what supposedly makes Flacco better than mediocre, why has Flacco only had 2 and a half semi-good games in 9 career playoff games?  Flacco's mediocre and he actually got worse last year. lol  i remember when the Ravens beat Miami in the wild card round a few years ago with Flacco going 10-25 comp/attempts. lol

with that defense, it's likely that the Ravens would already have a SB win or two during this run if Romo was their QB.  i bet Ed Reed would take Romo over Flacco.  bet he'd tell you that too. lol  Reed keeps it real around there while Ray Lewis is part-time cheerleader.

Hell no. See what Romo did with the #2 defense in the league in 2009. I'm not hyping Flacco to be some super clutch QB, but no way is he worse than losers like Ryan and Romo. Even if we are talking regular season performance, I'm not sure either of those QBs have wins like Flacco's 2 road wins in Pittsburgh. Romo is a good Fantasy QB and that's really it.

The Reed/Lewis distinction is pretty off as well. Lewis always calls out the offense when they suck. He's done less of that in recent years because he keeps getting toasted in pass coverage.

Not only would any Cowboys fan tell you Flacco>Romo, but every Ravens fan would too, and they were ready for Tyrod Taylor after that Jacksonsville game last year. Probably half of all Ravens fans still hate Flacco, and they would still take him over bum a$$ Romo.

For right now, the quarterbacks probably go:

Tier 1: Brady/Brees/Rodgers (no real distinction between the three)

Tier 2A: Romo, Stafford, Roethlisberger
Tier 2B: Eli, Rivers, Schaub, Peyton (operating under the assumption here that he won't be as good post-injury, otherwise, he's between Tier 1 and Tier 2A)

Tier 3: Ryan, Vick (simply because he's constantly hurt, it seems), Newton, Cutler

Tier 4: Flacco, Smith, Dalton, Hasselbeck, Palmer

After that, who really cares?

Now that I know you are Conlin, it's pretty obvious why you have Flacco and particularly Eli Manning this low. I doubt anyone else on the board would put Manning under Romo and Stafford, and next to Matt Schaub lol

That's fine, I have wildly different values when judging quarterbacks than most people probably do. I really don't care about winning when comparing individual players. Romo's DYAR last season put him well above everyone else that he's been compared to over the last few pages of this thread. To me that makes him a superior quarterback.

Flacco kind of is a bum lol, but he's underrated imo. Just last year people (ie: you) were saying Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, and Carson Palmer were better than him.

Yeah I get that he isn't that good, but after watching him for years, it's easy to know what to expect out of him. People always call him an X-Factor that can cause the Ravens to lose games, and that's pretty much never the case. He's a good Play-Action and Shotgun QB who can't do much anything else.

Looks about right. If Newton continues to grow, or if Vick can get some protection, they can move up. Dalton could move into 2.5, and I think Schaub is already that caliber. But I'm definitely of the mind that there are 7 good QBs and then everybody else.

For my sake I hope we can talk about Andrew Luck (and RG3 for the matter) belonging with these guys soon enough.

I'd move Rivers down to 2.5, but other than that, I think you're on there.

Romo, Stafford, and even Vick are a cut above guys like Flacco, Cutler, and Ryan. Let's be serious.

Romo is a choker.  until he stops choking, no tier 2 for him.  as a matter of fact i have a tier for Romo.  and Vick?  not buying it.  too inconsistent.  Stafford is well on his way, but he's had 1 really good year and somehow people just leave Matt Schaub out of the picture like he hasn't been really good for 3 or 4 seasons now.  Schaub>Romo.  Schaub>Vick.  Schaub>Cutler.  Schaub>Flacco.  that's how it's goin down.

and whassup with all the Matt Ryan hate?

tier 1- Rodgers/Brees/Brady/Peyton

tier 2- Ben/Eli/Rivers

tier 3- Schaub/Ryan/Stafford

tier 4- Cutler/Vick/Romo/Flacco
