The Timberwolves traded G/F Trenton Hasell to the Mavericks for G Greg Buckner. Both are deffensive specialists who are average shooters, so this seems just to be a change in faces to mix it up a little. I'm sure that's not the reason, but that's what it seems to be because they are both similar players.

I like Hassel better, both are similar like you said. I think Hassell is better and plus..he's younger.

Good trade for Minny. Get rid of Hassells lengthy contract.

Good move for both sides, Minnesota really seems to be working on freeing up the cap very soon, and Dallas adds a great defensive player. Buckner's a good defender and everything, but Hassell is among the better defenders in the league.

Seems they did it only so they wouldn't feel that they owe Hassell starters minutes. Buckner is new to the organization and has never really been a starter.

Both of them will play about 5-10 minutes a game. Insignificant trade.

Both of them will play about 5-10 minutes a game. Insignificant trade. You sure about that? Considering Hassell's gotten 29.2 and 32.6 mpg each of the last 2 years, I don't see how you can say that he's going to lose 66% of his minutes. It won't be as much as with Minnesota, but he can fit in with Dallas very well and can give them at least 15-20 good minutes per game. As for Buckner, you may be more right on with him, but I can even see him getting 12-15 minutes per game, mainly in that he's taking over for someone who ate up a lot of minutes, but Minnesota also has more guys for those guard spots right now and probably wanted to trade Hassell away in order to get rid of some of those minutes they felt like they owed him.

hassell isnt as good as he used to be mainly cause of the different handcheckin rules, buckner is pretty much the same player with a bet jumpshot but neither do much else than defend

Good trade for Minny. Get rid of Hassells lengthy contract. Basically, that's about it.

Good for both teams. Clears up a little space in the SG logjam the Wolves have, they add experience and get rid of Hassell's contract. Still, the Mavs are the winners of this trade because Stackhouse isn't getting any younger and they need defensive toughness.

But Dallas has Devin Harris, Stackhouse, Eddie Jones and Maurice Ager at 2. I wonder how Avery will distribute minutes for all those guys.

AWESOME!!!!
He costs 1 million more but has the same 3 years left on his contract. The difference is he'll earn it. A better defender, passer, sturdier and he can play the 3 which gives needed depth behind Josh Howard. The next move I think should be to cut Devean George or Eddie Jones assuming Reshawn Terry and/or Brandon Bass are staying which I think they should. I'd cut George and keep Jones for now.
Trenton Hassell is a subtle piece that could really, really help them on defense. If his 3 point shot has improved, he could be a major steal.
I'm not much of a Buckner fan so Bravo Mavs!

the mavs definitely get the upper hand here, its as simple as they get someone who can contribute and the wolves get a benchwarmer, good move on the mavs part
