It's Kobe's hometown, it's in the East and it has Iguodala who could be the Pippen to Kobe's Jordan. Those are enough reasons to make it a rumor.

philly could be a place.  of course they'd have to stop boo-ing kobe, like they did at the all star game.

umm they cut 7 M in cap space, get Thaddeus Young (12th pick), Jason Smith (20th pick), Louis Williams (best player in summer league), Rodney Carney (16th pick), Andre Miller, Willie Green, Kyle Korver and a 1st round pick which would be around pick #15 so I beg to differ.

Ditto. Miller, Korver and not the best bunch of youngsters doesn't give them much.

we need young all-star\superstar prospects in return, not some role-player prospects.

and why do the lakers need artest if they r rebuilding??

Umm to have somebody buy tickets to the games. I wouldn't sign Artest, just giving an example. I'd go with Ellis.

Why hasn't anyone thought of this is simple: because Kobe wants to go to a WINNING TEAM, not bask in the Eastern Conference cellar.

You're right, it's pretty poopy. I would just love to see Iggy and Kobe together.
How about after the season's over and Philly has a top 5 draft pick? Would that make a Kobe trade possible?

Okay my opinion on this is that Philly dont fit the mould of what works- they dont really have the assets in terms of players (I believe LA would want an Iggy level player),and they aren't contenders.

I dont think getting Kobe would be worth it for what it would take. It would make them a fairly good team but nothing more and after the Iggy extension they'd be tied in terms of getting more talent. Just my 2 pennies
