Well the main thing with those two you mentioned, is that I like Arenas better than both them and don't think they're worth him when it gets right down to it.

Okay now you've gone mad!

Why?

Is it because Arenas is younger?

ah Steve you're breaking my balls!

1) Gasol may not be Duncan or KG but he IS a top inside scorer. You wouldnt have a chance normally but Arenas sells tickets and Gasol wants out. Was just a though. He is decent in a pacey or halfcourt offense and I dont really see why you' rather have points coming from Zero than Gasol (bear in mind you could make up the ppg differential easily).

2) Ignore your arenas-brand conflict. Not sure what you meant about the injury to Brand. Anyway, the backcourt is a non-issue- you cant keep quality and also get a top big man that won't happen. life's a balance. cause and effect. but brand + butler + the money from jamisons contract (that if they used wisely and sorted out that haywood/thomas shitfest would go a long way) > arenas + butler + money that wont get a good big because none will be fas that you could afford.

likey?

Brand tore his achilles tendon and had to repair it with surgury. Anyway, while both of those trades look good for the Wiz, why would the other teams want to do this?

Brand is the franchise of the team. Clips will never trade him for Gil. The loss of Livingston kills the depth in the PG spot, but i don't think they would consider arenas unless they lose Cassell for some reason.

Gasol's trade demands actually have quieted down now that his friend and teammate navarro is on the team. Between Navarro and Damon Stoudamire, they look alright at the PG spot already.

In the case of Brand, yes (and while he's incredibly consistent, he doesn't really take over a games, if I'm trading Arenas, I want a guy whose a true star player, not a working man's all star).  As far as Gasol goes, if you trade Arenas, you're ultimately looking for a player to carry you past the second round of playoffs and I don't Gasol is anything better than a second banana on a very good team (the kind that will play into the second round or farther).

Okay fair enough. I guess our ideas of how to build a team just fundamentally differ. Viva la difference!

Agreed, of course this could change in three years when Arenas and Butler haven't gotten the Wizards past the first round again.

they're weak at all the positions on the bench with the exception of daniels who to me can play both guard spots but primarily the 2, since they need gilbert on the floor 24/7.

Things would be a lot easier if you still had both of your legs.
