The bulls achieved a great feat this past year. Making it to the playoffs(and doing good in them too) with such a young team. Could the MJ era come back soon? The team would not have such a key player as MJ, but will have great leaders like Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich.

They still need a whole lot of work to do.  I think they are two big men away from being a great team.  Once they get a legit center that can put up some points, they'll be right up there with Miami.

MJ era? Not quite. Norm Van Lier/Jerry Sloan era where they played hard, made the playoffs almost every year and did well, but never won titles? Probably.

The MJ era Bulls were a dynasty, pure and simple. The Bulls may never win another 6 titles again, let alone 6 in 8 years, so to think that an era comparable to that will arrive soon is wishful thinking, IMHO.

However, I think the East is going to go through some upheaval. Much as I liked his version of the Pistons (I, like any good Bulls fan, hated the original Bad Boys,) I think their window may be closing. I don't think the Heat will be as formidable next year, just my gut feeling. With the right moves this offseason, we could make a surprise run.

The Bulls are set for the future. In addition to having the #2 this year they'll have a top 5 pick next year when the Knicks tank again. Can you imagine how good this team will be if they added two guys like Greg Oden and Tyrus Thomas to Gordon, Kirk, and Duhon? This team will be stacked.

living_legend i think about oden all the time but i try not to cause it just sounds too good to be true, but it's certainly possible.  I think the bulls are still a few years away from title contention but who is to say they won't win a few... they have the best young core in the league it just depends what steps we make this year as far as our current players developing and us adding the right pieces.

Whoa, I thought the bulls had the option of getting the Knicks 1st rounder this year or next?  Meaning, since we're taking their 1st rounder this year, we can't get next year's.  Am I right, or am I right?

Bulls got this year's Knicks Pick, no questions asked.

Next year, Bulls have the option to swap picks with the knicks if their pick is lower... example, Knicks win the lottery and end up with the #1 pick in the draft and the bulls make it to the playoffs for a third straight time and get the 17th pick.  Paxson can call up his good pal Zeke and say, "I'll take that #1 pick, and here's your non-lottery #17 in return.  have a nice day!"  then he'll fax a picture of his three championship rings that he owns, then another fax of MJ's six rings, MVP awards, and olympic gold medals just to put salt in the wound.
