Is there any reasoning behind it?

NJ gives away their 2nd best player after J-Kidd for 2 mediocre players and a scrub? Lol, no.

I don't think Richard Jefferson is the Net's second best player. Carter is better. He has more assists and rebounds. This is just the first year he's beating Carter is scoring. The only reason Carter is not scoring because he's trying to play all around.
