You become GM of the team, meaning you are the brain and basketball ball expert for an NBA franchise.

Now you pick a team. Then What??? Then you start changing the look of your team.
-EX, if your team is in the running for the Championship then you, as the GM would try and sign a player to help complete your team and put your team over the top.
-EX, if you have a superstar on your team that other teams want, and want to move him then you can.
-EX, if you have a bunch of young players and a high draft pick, you can trade all that for an All-Star or two to help turn your franchise around

EX, if you pick the Knicks, then you have the ability to completely change the look, the chemistry, the style, and all the is wrong with the Knicks.

Now it is not all that simple.

You as the GM have to negotiate with other GMs and come to an agreement.

Rules:
Trades must be successful using the ESPN Trade Machine and must be posted with all trades that are agreed to. For salary cap purposes.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine

When a trade is made one GM must post the terms of the trade and the link to the ESPN Trade Success. Then the other GM quotes the message and agrees to it.

This NBA GM League will consist of......
1 – Trades (Players, expiring contracts, & draft picks)
2 – All GMs will vote on which GM has made the best move, most improved team, & most likely to be a real GM.
3 – Signing of free agents
4 – NBA Draft

I will list more information on how 2, 3, & 4 will work later, but for now pick a team and start negotiating with other GMs.

*Oh before you trade or trade for a player with one year left on his contract be prepared for that player to be in free agency at the end of the season.
*Its best to pm other GMs about players and trades, so that your business is not all out there for everyone to see and sneak in are your potential trades
*Its good to list your roster and salaries to present your team to other GMs

FREE AGENCY

Only teams that are below the cap can really be apart of this big name free agency. Cause in order for a team to give a player money then that team must have that money below the cap. Which will be set at $58 million this up coming season. All teams will also be given a mid-level exception, which is going to be $5.8 million and all teams can use that much money to sign F.A. regardless of cap. EX, if a team is over the cap they can use the $5.8 million to sign 1, 2, 3, etc, players as long as it is under/equal to $5.8 million.

Opt Out ability F.A. – How do we decide if a player will opt out of his contract. If some team out there is willing to pay a player more money then he is currently making and/or offering a longer contract then, that that player is going to sign with that team, unless his current team objects and matches what the offer was.

EX, Nash was worth $_,___,___ to both teams, but Team A want to only gice him 3 years, while Team B was willing to give him 5 years. Team A must match that 5 years and not just the yearly salary.

Corey Maggette (opt out ability)   $7,000,000
Elton Brand (opt out ability)        $15,344,000
Shawn Marion (opt out ability)    $16,440,000
Ron Artest (opt out ability)           $7,400,000
Gilbert Arenas (opt out ability)   $11,950,400
Baron Davis (opt out ability)       $16,440,000

So if your a team out there that has your eye on one of these F.A. then you must pay them more then what they will currently be making.

Restricted FA – Other teams that are below the cap and can afford to sign an offer sheet to a restricted FA can, then the other teams has 7 days to match the offer. If not then that player will sign with the other team.

Josh Smith (restricted)
Josh Childress (restricted)
Emeka Okafor (restricted)
Ben Gordon (restricted)
Luol Deng (restricted)
JR Smith (restricted)
Andris Biedrins (restricted)
Shaun Livingston (restricted)
Stromile Swift (restricted)
