Well they do have a good defender at shooting guard, Deshawn Stevenson.  Jamison on the other hand is not a very good defender, he plays his heart on that end, but he's just not a very good defender.  Also, I'll contend that they don't have a bad bench, it's just unproven, it'll probably take a third of the season for them to gel and for players like Pesh, Blatche, McGuire, and Young to find their places, which means that their bench will consist of Songalia, Daniels, and whoever between Thomas and Haywood they don't decide to start at center (and they don't need to trade one of them, but I still believe they need to trade both of them).  Things would be a lot different if they had an effective shot blocker who could stay in the game for about 30 minutes.

Well Jamison is one my fav. players so i might be a little biased Tongue

They really have a question mark at Center, especially when Haywood doesn't quit whining.

They could get rid of Etan but they need to get rid of Haywood first.

defence and bench really needs work on, and some inside offence wouldnt go amiss too.

antonio daniels up to now is the only realible bench player, songalia and haywood are very inconsistant the rest are just crap or young and unproven But non of the bench have good defence either barrin haywood.

If you consider lazily following his man aronnd and half hearted attempts at blocking shots defense, then I guess you could consider Haywood a decent defender.

look at last season ruffin who can rebound and do nothin else, songalia can score but not defend(plus his injurys slowed him down.) i guess compared to the other bigs he a decent defender

Jordan like playing Ruffin and Songalia immensely more than playing Haywood.  While they both have their faults (Ruffin on offense and Songalia on defense), at least the two of them give a crap on both ends of the floor.

youve got to trade jamison to a real big man because after the playoffs his value is at an all time high and you will be overpaying him if you extend him

Unless a Jamison trades nets a really good big man (which i kind of doubt) Keep him! If Wiz traded him, they can kiss their inside game good-bye. If anyone, maybe consider trading Butler, whose value is pretty high, for more size. Than it's Zero and Stevenson on the outside, and Jamison and hopefully decent big man inside. Probably won't improve the defense all too much, but it'll prove to yield a more potentially balance offense (but we all know that isn't the case when Gil is on the team).

Jamison has a good bit more trade value right now because of his expiring deal than Butler does.  Plus they just gave him an extension, so unless they got an All Star caliber big man in return, there's absolutely no way they're trading him.

He'd have to be top 10 quality though, otherwise, the Wizards would be taking a step back.  If Arenas was going to be traded for a big man, it have to be someone who can take over and control a game.  I'm not sure how many can do that right now though, certainly none that are Arenas' age.

First one I wouldn't take because I'm not sure that Gasol can carry an NBA team (he's sometimes not able to carry his National Team, which is tough to believe considering his talent).  The second trade's intriguing, but with Brand hurt it's a no go, he needs someone else to help carry the load (also I couldn't support the trade for emotional reasons considering they could've had both Arenas and Brand).  I think the biggest problem right with trading Arenas right now, is that it would only work if Nick Young was able to step up, which I'm not sure he can do yet.  Otherwise they're backcourt would be severly depleted.

ah Steve you're breaking my balls!

1) Gasol may not be Duncan or KG but he IS a top inside scorer. You wouldnt have a chance normally but Arenas sells tickets and Gasol wants out. Was just a though. He is decent in a pacey or halfcourt offense and I dont really see why you' rather have points coming from Zero than Gasol (bear in mind you could make up the ppg differential easily).

2) Ignore your arenas-brand conflict. Not sure what you meant about the injury to Brand. Anyway, the backcourt is a non-issue- you cant keep quality and also get a top big man that won't happen. life's a balance. cause and effect. but brand + butler + the money from jamisons contract (that if they used wisely and sorted out that haywood/thomas shitfest would go a long way) > arenas + butler + money that wont get a good big because none will be fas that you could afford.

likey?
