Wow, if that's true, what the hell are the Kings thinking?  They're pulling a Memphis here.

Every team could have put up a better deal for Gasol as well.

NO... no body had as much expiting contracts as the lakers (almost 13mil expiring)!!

here its a mere 6mil epxiring

ANY BODY can put 6mil expiring!

SAC would be amazingly stupid to do this trade when denver can give them much better deals.

No body except;
nets, philly, Bulls, Pistons, miami, orlando, wizards, dallas, spurs, minny, sonics, golden state, sac.

Then there is also the teams that could have given between 8-10 mill expiring but MUCH better young talent.
Raptors, Bobcats, Portland.

Yo son, you got SERVED!

Can't see this deal happening, doesn't make sense for either team. The Kings should look to recieve atleast one prospect in an Artest deal, as a bunch of expirings isn't worth it with the siize of Artest's contract. And why do the Spurs look to bring in the volitile Artest to possibly upset the chemistry of a championship contender/favorite already?

Spurs feeling the heat in light of all the blockbusters in the West recently? I think so if they are looking to make a deal like this.

baaf, you shouldn't whine. Lakers put out an absolute steal on Gasol. So when Pops is going to get ya back with the same poison, hush! Grin

Nonetheless, thi strade is dumb. Why the Kings would take ANOTHER scrub big-man when they are already stacked with those? Barry is expiring, so what; Artest is too!

Just let him expire.

if they want him gone, it makes more sense to take an expiring.  artest has a player option.  Though we assume he will opt out, assuming what Ron Artest will do has never been a winning game.

their is a deffirence between a 13 mil expiring + prospect + 2 draft picks and 7mil expiring..

im not saying that the lakers deal wasnt a steal (actually it was a day light bank heist) but it was more appealing cuz MEM will be WAYYY under the cap after it, here its just isnt the same.

artest will opt out anyway so he IS expiring, u dont need to get expiring contracts in return. and even if he expires SAC wont be under the cap so its just STUPID to traid him for expiring.

Actually, the Kings save about $1 million in cash this season, plus they don't have to worry about whether or not Artest might use his player option (plus they also get a few draft picks out of it and with the way this draft is looking that might net them a quality player).  Also keep in mind that the Kings are loaded at the swing positions and were doing just as well with Artest out this season.  Sure it's a steal for the Spurs but it's just as much of a steal as the Lakers taking Gasol away from the Grizzlies (no matter how much *** about it being different).  So seriously, quit your whining or at least save it for when the trade actually takes place.

Interesting if this happens. They'll have three defensive stoppers/3PT shooters (I know Artest is more than that) all playing the same positions: Artest, Bowen and Udoka. Weird.
