Even if their W/L record is not amazing, I think it must be recognized that the 76ers are in good place to go to post season and allow to their youg core to get some experience.
But the best thing and probably the most important for the future of the franchise is that they will be the orgabisation with the biggest place in the cap this summer. But I wonder if it will be possible for this franchise to bring a big fish like Brand...So if a great player doesn't come, who will be sign? No one?

if they cant sign a top dog like gilbert or elton then they will sign other SOLID  players. anyway you go the sixers are lookin at a much better season next year. or maybe they will use there money for trade where they give up a player with a lot of money for someone that is twice as good as what we are givin up. who knows, but we are in for a fun future.

if they could get brand, i would be estatic.  i know hes coming off an acl (or is it achilles?) injury, but with medical technology these days, players come back much stronger after recovery.

i think brand would fit in perfectly.  tough player, great low post scorer with a reliable mid range shot.  he also is great at getting rebounds and protecting the rim.  sixers already have good defense, but brand would push them to an elite level defensively, which of course would help the running game with more rebounds and blocks iginiting the break.

i think arenas would hurt team chemistry.  hes a shot jacker, and right now the sixers dont need that.  they need an upgrade at pf and sg, but arenas is a pg.

ideally i'd like the sixers starting lineup to look like this:

C  dalembert
PF Brand/someone good
SF T. Young
SG igoudala
PG miller

main backups:  lou williams, reggie evans, carney, jason williams, NOT willie green

Brand would be the perfect fit espically with andre miller playin great. A good scorin inside player is what this team lacks, and there not many better than Brand.

Plus he is a star player who dosent need the ball to be effictive, yes he can create his own shot to a certain amount but he also thrieves of good guard play

With this team playin without a ballhog(iverson) they play great teambasketball which would mean he would be the perfect fit and probably would add another 10wins

I think if there looking for a PF, I think Josh Smith will be a much better place to go healthy and built for a running team like the 76ers are plus another young guy.

Plus you will have the 2nd and 4th leading shot blockers on your team. If you need scoring their plenty of young SGs, like JR Smith for example, the point is there is no need to add a superstar to thisi young group, bring in young borderline level all-star talent, and let them mature together.

why elton brand? josh smith is on the rise and six years younger than brand. we dont even know if brand will be the same guy we knew when he returns. he may play like webber did. Josh needs to go to a team where he can play pf. when it is all said and done smith is going to be the best of the NBA with rebounding and blocking. we got to grab this young talent before he is gone for the next 6 years.

Josh Smith will not have the same impact than Brand. Smith is a ticket seller but Brand is a game winner. Plus the injury of Brand is clearly not the same that Webber's one. This kind of injury heals clearly better.

Given that every team is after cap space in order to have more flexibility in making deals and the fact that we will have to resign a number of young players over the coming years (Andre, LouWill, Thad, and Carney) I would not want them to chase someone like Brand.  He looks to be playing ok in his first few games back but the age and possible salary demands scare me.  A higher priority should be keeping the core together and resigning Miller in the offseason.

This may seem a bit odd but I would prefer the Sixers go after a Chris Douglas-Roberts or Courtney Lee in the draft and add a 3 pt specialist in FA.

That would give us a lineup of:

PG:  Miller/LouWill
SG:  CDR-Lee/3pt specialist/Green
SF:  Andre I/Carney
PF:  Young/Evans
C:  Dalembert/Smith

I think before we get excited about potential free agents we should take care of the core.  LouWill may have a $2.4 mill hold but someone will take a run at him if we do not lock him up.  Letting him go would hurt this franchise in both the short and long term, negating any benefit from FA.
