What? Money is exactly the issue, he said the only reason he's opting out is to re-sign for max $. So unless he's lying...

I'm going to be annoyed if I actually have to start quoting Gilbert on this one, it's all right there in his own words in his blog (a few months back, but there none the less).  It's a business decision on his part.

Gilbert doesnt like Deshawn Stevenson so he wants to go to Seattle and I believe that 100%.

Deshawn would only talk to Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas last season.

I see Gilbert leaving easily. Gilbert loves to win. If he sees his team is not doing well and the GM is not making any moves, I see him leaving.

We don't know how far the Wizards will go this season so I can't say that the Gilbert is for sure leaving the Wizards. The GM definitely has to make some moves next summer to convince their best player that the team is going the right direction.

We do know that Arenas said that it was strictly a business decision and he wanted a max contract (he actually said that), we also know that the Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld has every intention of giving him that max deal in the off season (he said that too, and this is from a guy who keeps things like that close to his chest).  We also know that the Wizards are the only team next season that can give him a max contract.

the question is, now that he's been paid and is in a great financial space, what will he choose, winning or money

Im almost certain he'll re-sign. He'll then look for management to make moves, possibly pushing for trades that take them over the cap. I'd then expect him to be moved if he doesnt see results.

Or he's trying to get more money for investment purposes because he has ideas for life after basketball.  Seriously, he talks about this in his blog.  Plus the Wizards have a number of good young pieces and a promising future and he's only 25.
