Nice thinking, but Camby is still the DPOY of the last season and has some serious game left in him. Plus Denver ai'nt stupid, they well know how much of a love-festival it would be for Minny to pair up Big Al and Marcus Camby.
They'll demand more for him. And Anthony Carter is not going anywhere, he's the perfect guy to put next to AI and 'Melo. A savvy vet, who doesn't demand the ball, and still can rack up 5-6apg as their starting PG.
What about:
'Toine, McCants, 31st pick
for
Camby, Atkins, 20th pick
Denver get a big expiring deal, a young gun to replace JR Smith as a spark off the bench (do you really believe Denver will sign JR to another long-term deal?) and get some compensation for trading their 1st rounder. There's a crop of decent defensive big men available at the top of the 2nd round (Pekovic, Asik, Dorsey, Hardin, Jawai).
So, you ask; why would Minny take Atkins and his 2 year, 7 mill deal? He expires at the same time as Camby, Madsen and just when Troy Hudson goes off the books. Right before the 2010 offseason.

So we're in time for the 'big time shopping'. He provides a steady vet presence at PG if anything. We can always buy him out. I mean, taking him is NOTHING when compared to getting the ideal partner for Big Al down low and the 20th pick! We can get a decent young big-man over there like Robin Lopez or Roy Hibbert you mentioned. After Camby-man is gone, the youngling will be ready to rip next to Big Al, Foye, Mayo.
