Birds using 99-00 pacers as a model?

I might be over thinking this but it seems to me that LB is using the team that went to the finals as a model for building this team. The players dont nescasarily play the same way but when u look at the potential roles that each position will fill its very similar to that team
This is the Lineup that i think Bird has in mind for the future
Tj Ford Mark Jackson
Brandon Rush Reggie Miller
Danny Granger Jalen Rose
PF Dale Davis
Roy Hibbert Rik Smits
I am not comparing the style of play of each player but more the role they will play
Tj Ford will be expected to distribute and be a leader on the floor like the way Mark Jackson was
Brandon Rush could
potentially
be the scorer that Reggie was in that year (18 ppg) and he will provide intangibles and prolly be counted on in the clutch
Danny is probalby not as versatile offensively as Jalen was but he is a better rebounder, just as good a scorer and a better defender but he will be expected to be the teams leading scorer as Jalen was in 2000
PF - this seems to be the piece that is missing at the moment. If they could have gotten Arthur from Portland then this would have been a perfect role for him
Roy Hibbert- To me is just a better defending version of rik smits. Slow, unathletic but can really help out in half court sets with his level of pure skill.
Then when you look at some of the pieces that could potentially come of the bench in the future
Dunleavey could provide the same things that Chris Mullin did in 2000(shooting mainly)
Jarret Jack could fill a role very similar to what Travis Best did for us (knock down shots and hopefully not over dribble..lol)
I could be over thinking it but i really that larry bird is using the team that he coached to the finals as a model for building this team.
Please remember i'm not saying that each player will have the type of careers that the older players had but i am saying that the roles that they are going to be expected to fill are very similar

i don't get this.. isn't this just stating the role you'd expect from each position.
pg distribute
sg shooter
sf more versitile version of the sg
pf dirty work
c inside scoring
i hate to compare a player to reggie miller. doing that in indiana is like the rest of the world comparing a player to jordan. its just something you don't expect to come along again. so hats off to brandon rush for being a good player but i'd rather compare him to a jalen rose.
all in all i just don't get it.

A guy like Carl Landry would be the dirty work player that Dale Davis. But the difference was that the 2000 was a very experienced veteran team, and guys like Reggie, Smits, and Davis had been with the team for a decade.
