I'll start this one:

10 games above .500, 2nd best record in all of baseball (26-16), Soriano's also seeming to find his offense. I'm liking what I'm seeing. I'm not sold yet on the Jim Edmunds signing yet, but I think he'll at least have something to offer, even if he is probably going to be a .250-.270 hitter with maybe 15 home runs from here on out. Not terrible, but I'd rather make Pie the full time center fielder. His defense alone makes him worth it. While Edmunds has solid defense, it was never as good as he always tried to make it look.

Anyway though, great to see the Cubs playing so well so far. When they're on they make other teams look like a bunch of little leaguers.

If you want to settle for a mediocre .500 team

Not anymore.  If this were last year, I'd make a joke about the AL being so weak that Tampa Bay's in first place.  Except that I'm a believer in the Rays, so...

Cubs?  I really don't know how we got where we got, but I'll take it.  It dawned on me this afternoon that we had the second-best record in baseball, and it hasn't quite sunk in yet.

Yeah, the AL's not much, if at all better than the NL now. Ever since the steroids stuff has been going on so many players (from both leagues) had been on the juice that the numbers all around have been dropping fast, and pitching has been what has been taking over. The NL's had a slight edge on pitching for quite some time, but now the NL's pitching edge has grown significantly, especially with Santana going to the Mets.

As for the Cubs, I'm blown away that they have the second best record in baseball, but I may be even happier with them having more than a 1 game lead in the division right now, in what has surprisingly been one of the toughest divisions in baseball this year.

If only Lance Berkman would stop doing his "Jeff Bagwell in 1994" impression...

Should be a great race between the Cubs and the Cardinals till the end.  I think in the end, Chicago will prevail, but u can never count out a team with Tony LaRussa and Albert Pujols.  And how about Ryan Ludwick ladies and gentlemen?

Albert Pujols scares the **** out of me.

Speaking of... how is Chris Young still alive?  Thank goodness he's OK.

Yeah, Pujols is a monster.

As for Chris Young, looks like he's looking good now, but yeah, that was really scary when that happened.

Now tonight, the Cubs are 14 over going for 15 over .500 with the best record in the league right now. This is getting more exciting and more exciting the further into the season we get.

Milwaukee standings: (as of 6/6)
32-28;  .533;  6.5 games behind the cubs; 9-1 in there last 10; and have won 6 in a row

are they waking up?

I was telling a friend at work that it hasn't sunk in yet.  Hearing things like, "The Cubs have the best record in baseball," and, "The Cubs lead all of baseball in runs scored/batting average/on-base percentage," sounds too good to be true.  But it is true, and it's fantastic.

How about 20 games over .500? That's amazing, I wonder when the last time that happened was, you're right about it not sinking in though. I think we've been teased enough in the past though that until they actually make it to the World Series we're not going to be too impressed anymore.
