While no deal is imminent, it appears that Corey Maggette and the San Antonio Spurs are getting closer to uniting, the San Antonio Express-News is reporting.
The Spurs are believed to have offered Maggette a multi-year deal, starting with their $5.8 million mid-level exception. Maggette became an unrestricted free agent this week when he opted out of the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The team who remains the Spurs' biggest rival for Maggette's services the Orlando Magic may drop out of the race all together if Chris Duhon chooses Orlando over New York.
It is believed that Boston has also offered Maggette their fill mid-level exception, and Maggette is considering the offer. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/53385/20080704/spurs_favorites_to_land_maggette/I'm hearing he's seriously considering Boston's offer, which gets me a little nervous. He fits more at small forward, but since we've got Bowen starting at that position, he'll probably have to start at shooting guard with Ginobili coming off the bench.

I think he'll be perfect to be their SF Starter... He might Start at the SG beacuse of Bruce Bowan and is amazing defence. But then the Spurs would be stackted at SG:Corey Maggette,Manu Ginobili,Micheal Finley and Brent Barry!

Now that floppers will have to pay, Manu's valu is going down.

Manu's going to start declining pretty soon, I give it a couple of years. What's scary is I'm hearing we might give him an extension... I don't really have ill feelings towards Maggette, the market for him to start the offseason comprised of mainly teams that could only offer the MLE, he went after the money, and pursued his full monetary value, maybe a couple million more than he's worth though.

The Spurs' young players will determine how far they go next season, as well as the health of Manu and the rest of the big three. Ian Mahinmi, Anthony Tolliver, George Hill, and Roger Mason Jr. have been added this offseason, and our old players (Oberto, Bowen, Thomas, Vaughn, and Finley) will all see less playing time, and will be more refreshed when they are in the game. If Ian does well, Hill and RMJ develop chemistry off the bench, and Tolliver comes in to hit the occasional three and stretch the defense, I think we'll be fine.

your spurs are still good, though they will start to evaporate like miami did after winning the title in 2010
