Reading some of the speculation on a Bulls trade just gets to me. Sometimes when you read some of these so called basketball writers, mostly online know-it-alls, you wonder if they have much grasp on reality or if they know anything about the NBA. What they seem to do is repeat something one of the other ones wrote, they come up with something to say every day but it isn't much to read.

Case in point. Talk that Paxson has been shopping Thabo Sefelshosa. OK what blockbuster deal is he supposed to be looking at with a guy who makes $1.9 million? Maybe he can swing a deal for Shaq, Wade or Kobe. Offer a bench player with a low salary and all that can be expected in return is the same, it's not worth his effort to make a call about a deal.

Then they come up with the Bulls could be interested in Brad Miller while saying the Kings insist on any team wanting him to take Kenny Thomas as well. Many teams might want Miller and be able to match his $11.3 million price but who is going to add enough of value when the price goes up $7.9 million for Thomas?  Even if they wanted Thomas to play that's $18+ million to match in salaries, which means some substantial players. A team doesn't want Miller so bad that they have to give up more talent and end up hurting their team in order to take Thomas.

Ah it's just frustrating knowing the Bulls need to make a deal if not two, while others are making trades, and not having anything happen for Chicago.

Are you serious? Most trades aren't blockbusters and involve bench guys on the lower end of the salary range. Tweaking your roster to get the right mix off the bench is fairly important and worth investigating.

I understand what you mean though about the overkill of idle speculation.

That's the thing that really frustrates me with Paxson, he's not willing to take a risk by making a big trade. Last trade we made to bring a "major" guy into the city was the trade for Jalen Rose, and we all know how that worked, unless I'm forgetting about a trade. However, that was a Krause trade. I just would like to see a trade to bring a big player here, not some trade that'll be small guy for small guy.

I'll make this trade any day of the week

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4877293We get Miller and Thomas until 2010 but we get rid of the longer contracts of Thabo and Noc.  Once they both come off the books, we've got cap room for LBJ, Wade or Bosh, or possibly a combination of two of them (if we don't resign Gordon).

Swap Nocioni for Hinrich. Sacramento could use an upgrade at the point and has too many swingmen right now.

Totally Agree. Most of the trade speculation is comical. The good thing is that they're writing about trading these guys and not about sitting back and waiting for them to blossom. Which I believe could be what John Paxson is honestly doing. Your right, You can't get much for most of the Bulls players and the ones you may be able to swing a deal with Paxson has them in a vice grip. My biggest concern about the Bulls is all the money they have tied up in average players. And It seems like they still haven't learned to put the check book away. Take Deng thier multi-millionare superstar. Kobe deal effected his game....Are you kidding me? Then Nocioni and Hinrich's deal are terrible too. I feel any deal that gives them cap room in the next year or two and eliminates one of those three deals from the books is a good deal. I hear alot of people blogging about Deng being a great 3rd option. So a 3rd option gets that kinda money. And their young Bigs are at best bench players on any serious team. So any Print, Web or Talk about about trading any Bull shy of Rose is music to my ears. Now let's just hope all the talk finally gets Paxson to make a move. What would be really scarey is if there was no talk at all.

Word has it that Pax has actually been pretty active in trade talks as of late.

Trading Thabo a player who isn't getting into games isn't going to get you someone who is going to jump into the rotation of Rose, Gordon and Hughes and certainly isn't going to be ahead of Hinrich when he comes back. And nobody is going to send a frontcourt player any better than Cedric Simmons who has been sitting next to Sefelosha. You've got to give value to get value, teams aren't going to willingly trade players who can contribute for someone who hasn't played.

But to my original gripe. Today on hoopshype. Two consecutive links to ESPN.com one saying that Hughes, Sefelosha and Thomas are under consideration to be traded then the next one claiming that because Thomas has showed something of late (2 f'n good games and he's the future that's a hack writer) that 'NBA sources say' the Bulls are looking to deal Gooden and his attractive expiring contract. Two completely opposite stories so one has to be a silly young man.

You want to know what teams are thinking about doing? Don't read online writer wannabes with NBA league pass, look at the rosters, look at the rotations and figure it out yourself because any fan in the stands knows as much as these clowns.
