I don't know if it's started now or if it's starting real soon, but I figured there should be a thread on it since we have people from plenty of different coutries or at least who have lived in different countries on this forum. Who are everyone's teams? Personally, I'm going with the team I went with 3 years ago, Cuba.

If Albert Pujols was playing for the Dominican Republic, I'd pick them, but because of that combined with theri shortage of pitching, I'll say Venezuela or Japan. I'm particularly interested in seeing this guy Yu Darvish for Japan, they say he's the best pitcher to come out of there yet and he's only 22. Rumor has it it will take $75-100 million just to negotiate with him.

Is Canada in this? If so, them.
If not, Cuba.

Canada is in it. They have like 3 Minnesota Twins playing in it! Love it!
But I'm going to pick Venezuela. I love that team's style.

Yu Darvish has said he would like to be the all-time win leader in Japan. So he says he is staying. But who knows... "Don't look for Yu Darvish to be pitching in America any time soon. Patrick at NPB Tracker speculates that Darvish might actually be thankful for Junichi Tazawa taking some of the MLB spotlight and speculation off of him. Darvish told a crowd of over 43,000 fans that he "isn't dreaming of Major League Baseball," and wants to win 200 games in his Japanese career. He's got a ways to go, but he's about 25% of the way there with 48 career NPB wins. Darvish, 22, has posted a 31-9 record with a 1.85 ERA and 418 Ks through 408.1 IP in the past two seasons. He also said he would accept an invitation to play for Japan in the World Baseball Classic."

Canada's chances took a hit when basically all of their starting ptichers backed out due to injury. I hate that most of our sports programs aren't very deep, though good near the top, meaning when we have injuries we're screwed, yet if everbody's healthy (which hardly ever happens) we're competitive. Morneu, Bay, stairs (if he's playing) and Martin is a good line-up, but it'd look better with Dempster, Francis, and bedard on the mound. Is Harden going to pitch?

Any Cuban that shines in the WBC will automatically be shipped to the Chicago White Sox.

Hahaha, true, they have proven that they love those Cubans, but then again, after Alexi Ramirez's rookie season I can't blame them at all.

Wow, big upset with Netherlands over DR today.
But GODDAMN that was an entertaining game between Canada/USA...damn you Americans...we had that one in the bag but to many runners left stranded and some spotty pitching led to our demise.

Yeah, well we get Italy next, and they got owned by Venezuala, so I'm liking our chances.
