I hate to say it, but it is a very realistic situation that could happen...All the teams in the Eastern Conference fighting for that 8th spot are only a game or 2 or 3 behind us...The Bulls could very well end up being the 7th or 8th worst team in the league...Leaving us once again in the LOTTERY. IF we do end up in the lottery and we end up getting a fairly high pick....getting a guy like Thabeet isnt totally out of question. Trade your top 10 pick and a player to move up the draft board. Paxson has showed in the pass he likes working on draft night....Heres a idea...

Top 10 pick and Tyrus?
For
Thabeet
Fill in

Brad Miller's contract
John Salmon's contract
Future draft pick
For
Amare Stoudemire
Fill in...

Possible Lineup
Rose,Fill in...
Hinrich,Terrence Williams
Deng,Tim Thomas
Amare, FA...
Thabeet,Noah

Your starters look pretty good, and i would hope Terrence Williams could get that starting spot. The bench is weak though. I dont love it, but again its just a idea...comments

While I'd trade most anyone for Thabeet, Tyrus Thomas is not included on that list.  The guy is barely 22 years old and is easily the 2nd best player on this team.  I'd trade Deng, Hinrich, Gordon or anyone else but Rose for Thabeet, but not Tyrus.  Secondly, I just don't think I want Amare on the team anymore.  If we can get Thabeet with by trading up or seeing him fall (which he won't), or winning the lottery (or at least top 3), then Thabeet, Thomas and Noah would be a great rotation for years to come.  Then I'd turn my eyes on getting a true option at the 2, if I thought that Salmons wouldn't cut it.  Honestly, if we got Thabeet this year (maybe by offering both our 1st rounders), then we could trade Deng for expiring contracts and future 1st rounders, and simply stand pat with the rest of our lineup until we could sign Wade.  Thomas and Rose would have one more year to develop and show their stuff, and Wade could come into a complete team that's ready to win titles.  You can't trade Thomas at this point, it would be crazy.

I would like to see how a summer of lifting weights helps Thomas. I can remember when Pippen was a skinny bean pole and how much his game got better after adding some muscle. Then same can be said for Horance Grant. So I wouldn't pull the trigger on Thomas just yet. And still think they can be the eighth seed. But anything higher would be a miracle. Still allow of selfish play going on out there. It's like a group of break dancers waiting for thier turn on the cardboard to show thier moves..lol. I think Thabeet depends on the draft order. We would want teams with a good big man to be higher in the order. Minnesota being prime. All ready an interest in Hinrich and some expiring deals in Mike Miller etc. But I would still keep our pick and use it.

Scottie Pippen is regarded as one of the smartest players ever to have suited up and Horace Grant worked at the game of basketball everytime he stepped on the court. Tyrus Thomas is devoid of those characteristics and he could lift enough weights to become Mr. Olympia and he wouldn't measure up to 10% of either of those players.

I would like to see the Bulls make the playoffs because it would mean progress. I am fully aware that they would be lucky to win one game whether they make the 6th, 7th or 8th slot. The fact is with the roster they have they don't appear to have the consistancy to put a winning streak together so they probably miss the playoffs. They don't figure to get as lucky as they did last year to get into the top three. Neither of their picks will be that great I would package one with Thomas and maybe even Deng and the other with Hinrich to get two veteran starters to fit around Rose, Salmons and Miller.

The only way we'll be lottery bound is if we trade a player in some deal that brings us back a lottery pick.  Make no mistake, the Bulls will make the playoffs this year.

I think the time to make a move is this summer... think about it...Bosh is on a bad team,so he will most likely jet out of town in 2010. And Amare, we already know how much trouble the Suns are in, so they will look to move him or Shaq. What do the Bulls have that every team in the NBA wants....EXPIRING Contracts. Miller,Salmons, Tim Thomas exc.. all are very easy players to move due to when their contract is up. Why wait for 2010 when you have the pieces right now. Its not like Miller or Tim Thomas or even Salmons is in our plans down the line. Get a by man in our system an going with us by next year. Plus you add a couple nice draft picks. You should be right in the mix of things again next year.

I fully expect the Bulls do make a blockbuster move this offseason.  We have the young pieces, expiring contracts and star player in Rose to get it done.  I would expect Bosh to be our prime target in 2009 with Wade as a potential second target in 2010 if we're able to move both Hinrich and Deng's contract and don't resign Gordon (I hope we do resign him).  If we are able to get Bosh in either 2009 or 2010, we'll have veteran players and potentially one more star player flock to us for relatively little money.  This is the only situation where Reinsdorf would go into the luxury tax.  And I think it's a very real possibility given the great financial trades we made at the deadline.

Nice post wing. It's going to be very interesting in this summer. I have faith that we can land a very solid pick.

It might be a blessing in disguise getting another good pick. For some reason our team right now just isnt working out,but i think we all can agree we have enough talent to be a playoff team at least.Plus if you can add Amare or Bosh things are looking up for us. If we make the playoffs...great but im starting to look towards the draft now and this summer.

After watching them last night it's clear that they want to be in the lottery again, so now it's time to hope for lightning to strike one more time and get them another #1 overall pick that they have no business getting.

i think i remember you saying that last year...

anyways, we could very well be lottery bound.  would be nice to pick up thabeet, mullens, or monroe, but i dont see a point in trading tyrus for any of them unless we are somewhere 10-15..one of them (or hill) will drop to us if we end up 5-9.

How about Bulls trade so they can get Bj Mullens and Thabeet.  Trade anyone except Rose, Thomas, and maybe Salmons??

Rose
Salmons
Tyrus
Mullens
Thabeet

that could be good a few years down.  or it could be a horrible experiment gone wrong.  plus its most certainly unrealistic.

I also said that last year when most analysts had the Bulls coming out of the East as the ECF champions.  I don't think anyone actually expected us in the lottery last season.

True, last season's failure was something that caught everyone off guard, and people who even said the Bulls wouldn't make the playoffs were just saying it to try to be the first to make a bold prediction so that they could stroke their ego if they were right, not even they really believed it.

It was one of those things where yeah, you may have been right, but you were still an idiot for saying it then.
