Not really. PHX saves money, gets a high draft pick. Marion and Bargnani are perfect fits for Gentry's offense. PHX isn't contending. Toronto convinces Bosh to stay. What's the problem?

this would require marion agreeing to a sign and trade that would send him back to phoenix. yes phoenix, the very place he was traded away from just over a year ago because he was unhappy. also, its not that great financially for the suns. i guess they would get out from under richardsons contract, but marion isn't going to agree to a contract that isnt at least 3 years long plus calderon is signed for 5 years too. plus nash is a 13 mil expiring next season and amare might be a 15 mil expiring if he opts out. after saying all that i'm pretty sure the money doesnt work either.

Nash has a team option for next year. He signs the MLE and the salaries do match.
Phoenix would be nothing like it was when Marion left it so I don't get how that's relevant. Calderon is worth having on a long-term contract. Nobody good is signing in PHX if they just let Nash, Stoudemire and Shaq walk away for nothing.

calderon 8.2 mil bargs 6.5 mil marion ? richardson 13.3 Stoudemire 16.3 nash mle so i guess you are saying the suns would resign marion to a deal worth 17 mil or so? i dont think so.

Calderon: 8.2 M Bargs: 6.5 M Draft pick: about 2.5 M Marion: 11 M =28.2 M
Richardson 13.3 Stoudemire 16.3 Nash 5.8 M =35.4 M
Difference of 7.2 M. Raptors will be about 8 M below the cap.

Eh, it's too complicated for you guys. I think it's good for Toronto. For Phoenix, it's kinda random but there's the money they save.

It's not really complicated at all. Toronto gets a steal while Phoenix gets screwed. You can claim cap space, but you just traded away the Phoenix franchise for far less talent. End of discussion.

But they're not even a playoff team so what's the problem in making them worse when Calderon and Bargnani will soften their blow in 2010 when everybody leaves and you can build around them and that draft pick from Toronto.

There will not be cap room after/ if Marion is signed. It seems a lot of you are under the assumption that you have a dollar to spend for every contract that comes off the books, but TO are well over the cap and will only have 12 million max to spend and that's without any FA's signed. Once they sign a wing player, no cap space, which means if the salaries don't mact this trade can't even mappen.
