I guess the word is that he has been playing great for the Lakers and now there is talk by the fans that the Lakers might just let Farmar walk or look to trade him. Brown has been taking minutes from Farmar at the PG spot and is likely to increase his role in the playoffs. I knew the guy could play, he just never had a good chance until now. I hope he actually does good for the Lakers, he is a talented kid. If the Lakers do re-sign Shannon Brown instead of Farmar, its a perfect example of what the Bulls could do with Hinrich. Farmar is solid but he is going to want way more money then a guy like Brown. Theres guys that arnt as good as Hinrich but there are definitely some that are close and wont demand so much money.

I saw part of a Laker game on NBA Gametime and just saw Brown on the uniform. When I found it as Shannon Brown I wondered how a guy could play for the best team in the west but couldn't so much as take off the warmups for the Bulls.
As for an example for the Bulls. I think it's way too easy to make a mistake when picking up a guy who hasn't either played up to his percieved potential or didn't fit in on another team. Fans are easily fooled into thinking a player is wasted on the bench by seeing a couple of good games from him. The teams that fall into that trap sign a guy for more than they should and end up stuck with him longer than they want.
They know what they have in Hinrich and they're better off keeping him than just dumping his salary. If they can get value in players or picks for him sure you can deal him but finding quality to take his place is a gamble.

As for the Bulls, I feel the felt that Thabo had better value. And I doubt a team would give up a mid first rounder for Brown if he were re-signed by the Bulls. I wish him well in LA.

I like Hinrich and all, he is solid and he has been good to the Bulls organization, but his role has really decreased because of Rose. And its only going to get less and less because Rose is only going to get better. Im not sure if the Bulls are willing to sign Salmons for a long term contract due to his age but I see other teams giving him the kind of money that he wants. Leaving us with Hinrich at the SG. Personally, I would try to dump him off for a bad contract so the Bulls can free up more money for 2010. There is even talk about a possible Hinrich for Kaman deal...im not sure if the Clips would do it though. I think once you find a place for Hinrich, you then can give Ben Gordon a reasonable deal for both parties. Find a replacement for Hinrich in the draft. Either 2nd 1st or 2nd round. Patty Mills,Darren Collison,Toney Douglas,Marcus Thornton,Nick Calathes,AJ Price,Jeff Teague might even be there. All those guys can fill in just fine for A LOT cheaper of a price then Hinrich.

you can say exactly the same thing for Gordon. You can sign a guy that does the same thing as Gordon for far less money. Hinrich already has a contract while Gordon will be the one looking for alot more money.

Hinrich is making 10 mil a year right now to be a backup to Rose....to me thats wayyyyyyyyy overpriced. If he was making something around 4,5,or even 6 mil a year, then Im fine with that. But at the end of his contract the lowest it gets is 8.5 mil. Thats still wayyyy to much money to pay him. Ben Gordon has been the starter for most of the year and has been our leading scorer in 40+ games...If im the Bulls i would give him anything lower the 10 mil a year to keep him here, if he wants more then that....then to bad he can go elsewhere. If he takes a similair contract to what Hinrich has the Bulls will still have their 25 mil for 2010. Like i said before, Im not sure Pax is going to want to give Salmons the money he is looking for, but im sure another team will. If BG is gone and Salmons is gone....then you just have Hinrich playing the starting SG for you. Personally, i just dont think thats a good thing, but you never know what can happen.

i've said before, i'm down to keep one of hinrich or gordon as our sixth man. neither of these guys is really starter caliber next to rose. if gordon is willing to for around what hinrich's making now, i'd be willing to re-sign and trade hinrich, but he's looking for bigger money and has nothing but negative things to say about the bulls pretty much since he got here. if he's signing a smaller contract, i think it will be elsewhere. our best hope is probably a s&t in the offseason, in which case we should keep hinrich around.

Ya i dont really remember him saying anything like that...what exactly did he say? Did he say this year or pass years? According to Hoopshype Vinny Del Negro praised him greatly saying this " He's been great to coach," Del Negro said "He's been fantastic on and off the court. He's a professional, goes about his business every day. He's been a big catalyst for us all season." So if that statement holds any truth, it looks like Del Negro really likes him and hopefully BG likes Del Negro.

Bulls / Bills / Marlins / Noles ben gordon was a guy he trusted and always passed to when he was open. those other guys are not the kind of shooters i'm talking about, they are more mid range guys. how many times did we see rose get hinrich, deng or salmons a wide open shot and those guys would pump fake then try to step in to get a better shot and end up passing up a wide open 3 for a contested 20 footer? they are not the kind of guy's rose needs. i said when he was drafted that deng and hinrich had to go and

I'm not GMJames Do you guys not remember this year when BG was fined and he bashed Vinny? It was when the Bulls were on a huge losing streak and Vinny said, just ask the players what they think about me and BG was the only person to say anything. It was on ESPN around the end of January. here is the quote from KC Johnson i can't find the entire article. By Kc Johnson January 22, 2009 "The Bulls fined guard Ben Gordon on Thursday for missing the team deadline for a flight, and the typically stoic guard expressed his displeasure during an animated conversation with coach Vinny Del Negro. The incident took place after Del Negro addressed reporters and had answered a direct question about whether players respect the rookie coach by saying this: “They should. They better. But you ask the players that.” Gordon did not curse his coach directly but used profanity to emphasize his frustration towards his coach, believing he had been falsely accused of the transgression."

i'm not going to bother looking up quotes or anything, but if you've followed bulls media since he's been drafted you'd know he has criticized pretty much every coach and a lot of the players to the media..not to mention bulls management. i remember a stir over comments gilbert arenas made regarding ben gordon trashing the bulls organization to him a number of times. we won't even get into him bitching about money..the guy's got plenty of baggage, and i don't think he's interested in staying with the bulls at this point unless he gets a contract as big as deng's, which is out of the question.
