Portland doesn't want or need Vince Carter.

It's a good deal though.

New Jersey Nets Line Up:
PG: Devin Harris / Sergio Rodriguez /
SG: Tyreke Evans (#11 draft pick ) / Kenyon Dooling /
SF: Bobby Simmons / #24 / Trenton Hassell / Jarvis Hayes /
PF: Travis Outlaw / Ryan Anderson /Yi / Eduardo Najera /
C: Brook Lopez / Josh Boone /

After this trade.. then can trade the bust Yi because he sucks. He needs a big environment for him to grow. Kind of like how Bargnani transformed... But Yi most likely not going to hit the weights.

Portland Trailblazers Line Up:

PG: Steve Blake / Jerryd Bayless /
SG: Brandon Roy / Rudy Fenendez /
SF: Vince Carter / Nicholas Batum / Martell Webster /
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Channing Frye /
C: Greg Oden / Joel Przybilla /

+ a heck of lot of draft picks.

Raefs contract can no longer be traded

if they sign and trade him, he can be traded.

They can sign him for $10 mil... and provide a buyout option where a little portion of that money is guaranteed.

The league would be unlikely to approve such a contract

All KVH's money was guaranteed. They would not allow a cheap buyout in the way you suggest

he was signed for 3 years.. the 1st year's money was guaranteed. The second year's money wasn't and they bought him out.

Portland had this trade earlier in the year, and didn't want it.  SF is not a position of need.  Webster and Batum have that locked up.  Defensive PG and a banger of a backup PF are the needs.
