Hansbrough at 16. But I would be fine with Mullens, Clark, Johnson, Williams or Blair.
I'd rather see them trade out of that 26th spot unless there's a player still there that should have gone a lot higher. Call me a biased UNC fan but Ellington could be a nice insurance option.

The fact of the matter is that this team is about to lose Ben Gordon.  There is no one on our bench that can fill that role like Teague.  Teague has a much better handle and vision than Gordon and can score in a multitude of fashions.  He is incredibly quick and shifty as a corollary he gets to the line at a very high rate.  He plays well off the pick and roll and shoots at a good rate behind the line and his mid range game.  He can play the point for those 10-12 mins that Rose in on the bench this year and can develop into a Jason Terry type player.  He reminds me a lot of a healthy Jameer Nelson, with his ability to drive, kick and shoot, and like nelson not a pure point. 

As far as Mullens I can’t see the bulls drafting him, they already have Noah and are very high on Omer Asik, who is apparently coming over in a year.  Mullens doesn’t fit their profile and is too much of a project.  The bulls are planning on making a move and need to take someone who is ready to at least play 20 minutes a night to off set the loss of several rotation players in said move.  I wouldn’t mind Mullens particularly think he is worth the risks at 16.  But Chicago isn’t going to take him.

I watch a lot of ACC bball and am not that high of Teague.  on and off.  hot and cold within 2 minutes.  Henderson is the way to go with the SGs that "might" be available.

Although I really want us to trade at least one of our picks in a much larger deal, if we really had to pick someone at the #16, I would go with DeJuan Blair.  I know a lot of you guys think he's undersized.  But let me assure you, that's not really true.  Height is a very overrated category in the NBA.  Yes, it's important, but what's just as important as things like athleticism and weight.  What Blair lacks sorely in height, he more than makes up for in girth.  The guy is 277 lbs.  Do you know who is also an under-sized power forward who has been basically a 20-10 guy his entire career?

Elton Brand.

Why has Brand, despite being supposedly too short for his position, been so successful?  Because he weighs about 275 lbs.  He's also very strong and is quicker than most big men at his position.  I look at Blair and I see the same kind of mold.  He's an excellent rebounder, he has a legit post game and he's just really solid around the basket.

Blair, not Mullens, actually fits what we need right now.  We need a guy who can defend the paint, who can get easy baskets inside (we were sorely missing that throughout the Boston series) and who can grab defensive rebounds at a high rate.  One of the surprisingly disappointing areas of Tyrus Thomas' game is that he is actually not that great of a defensive rebounder.  But Blair should prove to be better than Thomas in that category.  Like Ben Wallace, who was undersized at the 5 at around 6'9'', Blair makes up for being under-sized by being jacked.  Tyrus still needs to add a lot of muscle.  And he still could be a really special player in the league.  He's gotten better each year thus far and I see no reason why that should not continue.  However, if he's not in our long-term plans or does not proceed in his development as quickly as we hope he will, Blair could easily replace him as our power forward within one to two years.  Blair would also, most likely, see quite a lot of playing time next season.

Don't get me wrong, though.  I like the idea of drafting Mullens because I figure if we're going to keep that pick, we should probably swing for the fences and hope he develops instead of turning into a bust.  But he's going to take a bit of time to develop whereas Blair might actually prove to be a better piece to have for our 2010 plan.  Similarly, if we know we're going to trade one of Salmons or Deng, we should probably go with James Johnson because at least he probably could play both positions and we would need a backup at the 3 and occasionally at the 4.  But I suspect we'll probably be keeping both of those guys unless a blockbuster deal comes in.

Now in regards to the #26 pick, there are two players who intrigue me.  My first choice would be Wayne Ellington just because he's a good shooter and he has size.  Regardless of whether or not Gordon resigns, he could prove to be a very good bench player and a potential starter down the road if he pans out.  The other guy I think we should really take a close look at is Omri Casspi.  He probably won't come over to us if we draft him until 2010 at the earliest.  Therefore, we don't have to pay him this season and we have a nice prospect at the 3 lined up until we're ready for him to come over.  Having his contract not count against our cap space should help us resign Gordon.

Anyway, that's my two cents.  We'll see what happens in the coming days.  Should be exciting.
