Good post Green....my only thing with Blair is that he doesnt have a jumper. While Brand has a jumper and a turn around j. Elton Brand would be a best case scenario for him, but i also think Reggie Evans,Craig Smith,Danny Fortson are also real possibilities. And even though we did lack that down low physical presence in that Celtic series, we still wouldnt of won if Garnett would of been there. And that team is different when they have Garnett in instead of Big Baby. When Garnett is in there, there alot better and they have a different look, when they have Big Baby and Perkins in there so their both just big bodies that bang down low. Another thing i question is what is Blair going to do against the Garnetts,Bosh,Amare,Pau's of the league. The hybrid PF's that are 6'10 6'11 that can just out quick you.

Personally i just go with Mullens because like you said, at 16 i would try to swing for the fences. And if Mullens turn out to be good in a couple years, thats just 1 more thing you dont have to worry about going after in 2010. You can stick to Wade,Joe Johnson,Amare and Bosh exc. You wont need to grab a center, you could just focus on those guys. And if we do grab Blair, he will just turn into a backup if we land Bosh or Amare, while Mullens could be a big part of our starting lineup.

First of all, Mullens will almost certainly take 2-3 years to develop.  So he's not going to start over Noah any time soon.  Secondly, with his skill set, he would be a poor choice next to guys like Amare or Bosh.  You need that interior defender and helper to your post player to help you go far.  I don't think Mullens is going to be a defensive power house.  But Noah would be excellent next to one of those guys - especially if he continues to bulk up.  Also, in regards to Blair defending guys like those you've mentioned, I believe I addressed that issue in my previous post.

The issue is that Blair will play bigger than his size - much like Ben Wallace - did because he's so ripped.  Wallace was actually effective at guarding Shaq when he was in his prime.  I'm not saying that Blair will be able to be that good defensively, but in terms of man-to-man defense, because of his strength and toughness, he should be better at defending the paint than Tyrus and Noah.  Those guys are more suited to be help-side defenders instead of man-to-man defenders.

You wrong, you wrong and again, you're wrong. Blair might be strong but he isn't ripped. Mullens might take 2 to 3 years to develop but during that 3 year span, Bulls won't be contending for nothing. At best, I see the Bulls being fourth or third in the East. Blair is whom he is - that simple. I can see him out of the league in three years if his knees don't hold up. Mullens on the other hand, has many options far as development. You can teach size and you sure can't teach touch around the basket, you can preach it, but you can't teach it. Mullens has that, while Blair will put his body through a whirlwind in a 82 game season. He will disappear like Maxiell has done. Lets be honest, Blair may look like Brand but his skill-set isn't near Brand's. You can't throw the ball down-low and say get me 2 points. Blair game is getting the rebound and kicking it back out. Don't be fooled by those stats. He relied on power and that won't work in the NBA. Just ask Tyrus is his hops are working him to being a 15 and 9 guy. Mullens will get there with his skill-set. That's your opinion and you have the right to discount him. I still think you're wrong.

yeah blair's biggest strength by far is rebounding...he is average in the post and on defense.  mullens is also average on d, and probably won't be as good a rebounder, but he has the size and post skill to make up for it.  if we end up getting amare/bosh, we might be better off trading for/signing a veteran center who plays good d, and will probably lose our first pick anyways.

I think Blair will pick up a lot of cheap fouls because he is so big and uses his strength so much to just bully people around. He and Mullens are just average defensively but at least Mullens can contest a shot much better then Blair due to his size and athleticism. Mullens can also finish above the rim, something Blair cant do that well due to his size.

1. Blair is strong.

2. Have you actually seen what he looks like?  His arms are pretty thick and toned.

3. Remember the last time we gave a promise to a player who had bad knees and then rescinded it because we got worried about knee injury problems?  That was Brandon Roy.  We had the opportunity to take him with the second pick in the draft, but we chose not to.  And he ended up free-falling to Minnesota, who traded him to Portland.

4. It might suit you best in an argument to not say "you wrong".

5. I don't think Blair will be a 20-10 guy.  But I do think he'll be a very good role player in this league at some point.

6. Jason Maxiell is nowhere?  Because his team wasn't that good this year that means he stinks?  His numbers were down this season but his efficiency didn't slide that much.  You know who that happened to two seasons ago?  Every single player on the Bulls.

7.  I don't think Blair is going to focus mainly on tip-backs like Wallace did.  This guy does have post moves, can shoot little fade-away jumpers from close range and tends to pound it home like Tyrus and Noah.  However, because of his girth and strength, much like Glen Davis, he'll probably have an easier time getting inside than those guys despite his lack in height.

Blair's just simply too small to be any better than Jason Maxiell (but less athletic), and there's going to be players who can possibly be better than Jason Maxiell (but less athletic) at that point, so drafting him would be a bad move. Also, arm length does not make up for lack of height and has never proven to.

I dont mind Blair, but my thing is,  name another guy with his size and skill set that has actually became a very good player in the NBA. Big Baby has always been a offensive player, at LSU i think he averaged like 18ppg, plus he has a nice jumper in his arsenal.Milsap, the only thing those 2 have in common is that they both can rebound imo. Tractor Traylor,Reggie Evans,Danny Fortson all are guys that relied on their strength and rebounding to get to the league and look how they turned out. Im not saying Blair will be out of the league in a couple years but i just dont see him being that good in the NBA. No question he will be able to get positioning in the post, but will he be able to make those shots when you have 6'11 guys flying around swatting everything they see. I just dont see it. Mullens could end up being a starter while Blair, i dont see him being a starter. At 16 ill take a chance and go with Mullens.

Paul Millsap is a great example.  Millsap is really just over 6'6'' and weighs around 260 lbs.  His college rebounding numbers at Louisiana Tech by his third year in college were roughly 13.3 rpg.  However, when he as Blair's age during his second year of college he averaged 12.4 rpg.

Blair, on the other hand, is really just over 6'5'' and weighs around 280 lbs.  His college rebounding at Pitt, was roughly 12.4 rpg.  Offensively, Blair wasn't too shabby, either.  He averaged 15.7 ppg this season.  Blair, despite technically being shorter than Millsap, has a higher standing reach, a higher score on benching, a bigger wingspan, a higher max vertical, etc.  He's just a tad bit more athletic than Millsap.  And yet, Millsap will be close to a 20-10 guy when Boozer leaves.

Keep this in mind.  The biggest category to carry over from the NCAA game to the NBA game is rebounding.  And Blair is an excellent rebounder.

Millsap's got an entire inch on Blair and has a vertical 2.5" higher from standing, which is what really matters with them since that's how they play. Taking that into account, that's a difference of 3.5" there in getting your body up in the air.

Also, there's no guarantee that Millsap will be a 20-10 guy either. In fact, I'll go as far as to say that he won't. He'll be a double double guy, but I highly doubt he'll be a 20-10 guy. Millsap also has a jumper, something Blair isn't even close to having.
