I think we have some wiggle room, and some scary gaps to fill.  The point guard position is vexing, but more than that, we have no wings...  Granger and Rush are great starters, and will both improve this years, but Dunleavey is out.  They are not picking up Daniels option, and Graham is a free agent who will garner some attention in the off season.

I think we have two people at center that will not hurt us in Hibbert and Foster.  At Power Forward we have Murphy coming off a great season, McRoberts showed promise down the stretch, and Hansbrough just knows how to win.

We have 4 contracts tied to the Point Guard position, and a second rounder who deserves a shot.  Jack deserves an offer, and we need to keep him.  TJ is great trade bait, even after a whole draft class of PGs.  Someone could use his experience.  Diener opted to stay here, but that doesn't mean we can't trade him, though he is a decent backup.  Tinsley just needs to go away.  Price is a good pickup for cheap, and the kid can play.

At the wings, you need to retain Graham.  He will be cheaper than trying to get Daniels off the free agent market, and he knows the system.  Another inexpensive free agent that knows the system is Kareem Rush.

We will have a good starting 5, but after that it gets a little sketchy if we can't retain some people or fill in the gaps.

the thing with indy is that we'renever bad enough to get a franchise type player in the draft.  but we're also never good enough to contend for a title.  and lets face it what big time free agent is going to sign here.

I think we have a competitive starting five assuming we sign Jack. With that said we need to fill in behind them, and clear the clouds.

The cloud is Tinsley, and Bird needs to set him free.  Make a trade for projects.  Offer a 50% buyout, just get him off the roster.  Every time I see his name on there, I throw up a little.

Sign Jack.  Trade Diener and/or Ford.
[Tinsley to Toronto for Joey Graham and Patrick O'Bryant]  Dreaming I know
[Diener and Ford to Memphis for Conley and Jaric]    This one I like for both teams

Sign  Stephen Graham and McRoberts.  They are crowd favorites and good talent for the dollar.

Jack - Conley - Price
Rush - Jaric - S.Graham
Granger - Dunleavey - J.Graham
Murphy - Hansbrough - McRoberts
Hibbert - Foster - O'Bryant

Diener had a player option on his contract.  He decided to stay put when projections started looking like 14 PGs in the first round.  Not a time to see if you can play let's make a deal.

As per that Tinsley for Graham/POB trade. Two things

Graham is a UFA
We don't want Tinsley.

Well on the Graham front I think he was a RFA when I wrote it, but Toronto didn't extend an offer.

PS...  Nobody wants Tinsley...  I'm beginning to think his mother wouldn't trade for him...
