Silva is so good that Dana White complained by him winning in a boring fashion. He completely cleared out the middleweight division and now he is beating light heavyweight just to have a challenge.

Silva is a monster. He knew after like a minute into the fight that he was going to win. His KO punch didn't even look that hard (probably from the camera angle). It looked more like a jab.

Yeah we'll see about that. GSP has already said he won't move up.  I think he's scared of Silva as he should be.

I don't see GSP beating Silva. GSP is a great fighter, but Silva is completely out of this world.

GSP is gonna move up and f*ck Silva's sh*t up.

GSP is way too small to be fighting at middleweight, not to mention to be fighting against the greatest middleweight fighter, and one of the deadliest strikers of all-time. Silva is an extremely large middleweight, and can actually move up to heavyweight to fight the likes of Lesnar, Couture, Mir. I've read and heard from several sources that he has to cut to even make 205. Silva would destroy him.

Are you kidding me? GSP is just as fast as Silva and if he got him on the ground he would completely own his sh*t. Silva MAY win the fight but destroy? You're out of your mind. People also tend to forget that Silva is kind of an old man.

For GSP to add the extra 15-20 lbs. to move up a weight class, he would most certainly lose some of his quickness, and probably, especially with him being a small-framed man (5'10"), lose some stamina/endurance. That would greatly affect his ground game against the naturally stronger, bigger Silva.

It's one thing for GSP to own a ground game against smaller fighters like BJ Penn, and an entirely different one in contrast to Silva, who normally fights in the low 200's at 185, where he'd likely still have close to a 20 lb. advantage against St. Pierre.

As for age -- in MMA, most of these guys seem to peak in their mid-30's (Liddell, Couture), and a 6-year age difference is f-all (Dan Henderson/Michael Bisping). If anything, Silva is entering his prime fighting years now.

Do people forget that Silva was fighting just terribly before Griffin? It's like the guy does 10 things wrong and 1 thing right and all the sudden everyones on his nuts again. I think he is a great fighter and a remarkable athlete, and I am being a bit of a homer by talking about GSP, but come on. I believe GSP clocks in at around 175 so he could add 10 pounds and fight Silva without losing too much quickness.

Silva was dodging those punches against Griffin but Griffin is a turtle compared to GSP's speed. Like I said Silva may win the fight, but I think it would be a great, entertaining battle between the TWO BEST FIGHTERS ON THE PLANET. Also there's no way someone is entering there prime at 34 years of age in any sport.

Hahaha. I think it's the other way around -- 10 things right/1 thing wrong... no doubt, Silva didn't look too good in his last 2 fights prior to UFC 101, but he sure as hell looked good in his televised fight before that and about a dozen fights prior.

It was reported that GSP was saying he'd need at least a year to put on a solid 15 lbs. of muscle before even considering moving up to middleweight. Meanwhile, Silva has 2 or 3 fights left on his deal. The guy's already talked retirement before, so who knows if he'll still fight beyond this deal.

The fight will probably never happen, but always fun to debate.

I'd agree with you on the age thing in most other sports, but not MMA. Physiologically they may be just leaving their prime, but combining the years of experience/training while still being close to their best, physically, I'd stand by my comment that these fighters peak in their mid-30's.

BTW, Lyoto Machida should also be in the conversation for best fighter on the planet. Too bad him and Silva are in the same fight camp and refuse to fight each other. That would be a dream fight.

Well, to be fair, it wasn't Silva's fault that the fight before this past one was so crappy. How much can you do when every time you start to get anything going the guy you're going against just drops down to his back?
