I was thrilled by the Pacers acquisitions over the summer. D.Jones, S.Jones, Watson, Head, Hansbrough, and A.J.Price. It seemed that we were looking to energize the team, with high energy/high intensity players.
Now the season starts and the starting lineup at Golden State the other night: Ford, Rush, Granger, Murphy, and Foster. The only guy who is an energy guy is Foster, and he just doesn't have the body for this like he once did. The team looked like they had all taken Thorazine before the game.
PG - I still don't get the whole Ford thing. Sure he is fast but he doesn't push the pace very well, and gets in these terrors of looking for only his own shot. I would rather see them start Luther Head at the point, or Price, or Watson. Diener is gone by trade deadline, and Ford maybe also.
SG / SF - You can not start Rush with Granger. They feed off each other and both fall asleep. Mike is back, so start him. Even if his minutes are limited, start him.
PF / C - I said it before, and I will say it again. YOU CAN NOT PLAY HIBBERT AND MURPHY TOGETHER!!!!!! Murphy moves like he is in quicksand, and Hibbert seems to mirror his front court partner. Either of these guys can be paired with Hansbrough, McRoberts, Foster, or S.Jones but never together. I would think the coaching staff would get this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been a supporter of JOB at coach but I am starting to question his thinking. Same stupid ideas you could see from any coach. Looking for a 8 man rotation??? Stupid is as stupid does, I guess.
The strength of this team should be defense and it's depth. You dress 12, so play 12. Run the other teams into the ground. If your starter at each position played 4 minutes, sat 4 minutes, and played the last 4 minutes in each quarter, they will play 32 minutes. It also leaves 16 minutes available at each position for other players. I bet you would also see less injuries, and less of tired legs trying to defend. The only person on this team that we could justify 32 minutes for would be Granger.
