How do you think the Bulls will use JR Smith? Him struggling and falling out of favor with the Hornets caused him to only average 7 points per game as a sophomore when most people (including me) thought this guy would be a star. I think he'll do good coming off the bench for Chicago.
He could also be a valuable trading piece in a year or two whenever Thabo Stefalosa develops.

Maybe under Skiles, he will do a lot better. I think he'll be the starting SG with Ben Gordon coming off the bench.

No way is Gordon coming off the bench anymore, they need his offense in the starting lineup, and Wallace hides his defensive deficiencies.
J.R. Smith is young and a poor defender. He might not even be in the rotation. If he couldn't get along with Byron Scott, what makes you think he'll fare any better with Scott Skiles?
Thabo is a defensive guy, which puts him ahead of Smith right now.

I think JR Smith was just a throw in in the trade. He'll probably be used as trade bait. Not that Chicago has any more needs or anything.

I agree with you 100% pinoyballa. He could be a star, but he just doesn't seem to care. I hope he sits on the injured reserve all year long.

There is NO WAY Ben Gordon should be comming off the bench. J.R. Smith will be used as an energy guy. He didnt like being with the hornets but I think his mindset will change in chicago. If he IS still with the team come the begining of the season, he will be used off the bench as an energy guy. The kid has a lot of energy and can make some hilight dunks. But he is a defensive liability. If he plays his role, he will be a good addition to the team.

The Bulls are very athletic now with Ben Wallace, Tyrus Thomas, and now JR Smith

Optimally, the Bulls would have a taller off guard and let Gordon come off the bench as a 6th man that sees starter-type minutes. He seems to thrive in this role and he just doesn't have the skills to play the point despite his "point-guardish" height. He's no 6'3" despite what he's listed at! He'd be another Vinny "Microwave" Johnson in a 6th man role. The fact that the Bulls DON'T have a taller off guard (I'm not even considering JR Smith an option) and Gordon's ego probably wouldn't even allow a move to the bench to happen keeps Gordon starting at this point.

if he isn't athletic, he wouldn't be employed at all. without great jumping, he'd be out a job sooo fast.

He's mostly strong. Athleticism is more running fast, jumping high, etc. In terms of "centers" yes, I suppose he is, but I was wrongly basing it on, say, nate robinson's jumping, and leandro barbosa's speed.

well, you have to compare it to like sized individuals. I mean, is he going to beat AI in windsprints? certainly not. but, for a six nine guy, he moves well, and he's got great jumping ability.
