Well, today is the official opening day for the Winter Olympics. I don't know how many of you are into the winter sports, but I am, and I am certainly pumped for this tournament. I watch for the hockey more than anything, but I'll watch the skiing, and the luge, and all that stuff.
It is always great when the Olympics are on even if you don't like the sport as a rule you can still take great pride in cheering for your country to do well. This is especially a big one for Canada is it's on home soil.
Today is the mens ski jump qualifiers and the opening ceremonies at night. I'll update this thread daily with the schedule if theres any interest.

Saw it on ESPN. How devastating to the family. And on the first day of the olympics too. RIP.

Seeing that video, especially along with the videos that showed his face right before it happened and the EMTs trying to save his life were among the saddest things that I've ever seen in my life. I'll be totally honest and admit that it was hard to keep composure watching that. Just to see an innocent and talented person's life end like that is just so horrible to see. I was happy to see the standing O for the Georgian team as they came in tonight. Watching Steve Nash and the Great One hold the olympic flames was great, but just seeing what happened earlier was just such a tragic thing to see. My best wishes go out to his family (not trying to spell his name because I know I never actually could), teammates, and friends. It's just so horrible to hear about this.

Yeah, as good as Kane is, the guys that were close but left off of Canada's team could probably beat the American team. It was nice to see Ohno get another metal.
