Suarez of Uruguay is getting booed heavily by the African crowd because of the handball in the Ghana match.  Pretty disgraceful of the crowd, I hope Suarez scores a goal.

I don't mean to sound like a bad person, but they don't "understand" football, they are not a nation that loves it and they fail to understand simple concepts, anyone who played football would know that the action he had was a pure reflex of what happened and he got punished.
Why don't they boo Maradona then everytime he enters the pitch? From what I know he did something worse and even got away with it, it's not Suarez's fault that Gyan missed it, so please, Africa, stop crying and learn a little about football.

I don't think it is a "lack of understanding" thing it is "we are really pissed off our team lost" thing. South Africa got behind Ghana during the tournament and they are venting their frustration at the scapegoat Suarez. It is the same reason why Irish fans hate Henry so much.

I don't completly agree with that, mainly because Henry didn't got punished and Ireland couldn't do anything to still win it, Ghana had a huge chance and Suarez got sent off. Those to me a very subtancial differences that separate it from "trying to hurt the sport" to "he did everything the rules allowed him".

But overall I understand, when you are hurt you say a lot of crazy things, even if they aren't right, they were the only hope and got kicked out from the tournament in one of the most hurtful ways possible.

I agree to some extent. I don't for a second believe Henry's handball was accidental, he basically palmed the ball back into play. Suarez threw his hand out in a quick desperation move which you pretty much do when a ball is flying right at you - especially when you're on the goalline and it could mean your country going out of the world cup.
I don't condone what he did at all though, but yes Ghana should have scored that penalty so they can't completely complain about it. But Suarez's comments after the goal were ridiculous and lacked a lot of respect.

Also Maradonna is hated in England ... still Wink

Commiserations on the result today Chelo, but you should still be proud of getting so far. I envy Uruguay. Forlan was very unlucky with the free kick at the end.

But both were desperation plays, both weren't accidental and both games a loss means they were out of the World Cup. I doubt before the play started Henry said to himself that he was going to palm the ball back in play and win the game. He saw the ball was going out of play he got desperate and he did what he did to prevent it from going out.

Not disagreeing at all, I'm not even against Suarez being booed for.
But Ghana were given a chance to make Uruguay pay, Ireland weren't.

Congrats to Spain, they were clearly the better team and the best team in this tournament.  They became the first team in World Cup history to win the World Cup after losing their first match (Spain lost 1-0 to Switzerland).  And all of their tournament wins were 1-0.  They were a very fluid unit, and certain deserved it.  David Villa was amazing.

Also - I was correct in my predictions on all four of the last matches.  But that's nothing compared to "Paul the octopus" who was 8 for 8 in his predictions.  Unbelievable.

Spain, dominating the world of sport haha. Congrats to the Spanish and our man Jamie ... totally deserved. Best team in the tournament, best in the game, best in the world right now.

It's a shame Holland played like they did, I think they got what they deserved really. They didn't really play to win in the first half, mainly just to stop Spain ... they were lucky only one guy got sent off.
But never the less, Spain did what it took and absolutely deserved it, no doubt.

You know... I said the same thing about the Germans after they played Spain, but the truth is (at least what I think) is that Spain has such a control over the ball and they actually defend themselves with the posession that teams just can play all out against them, but I got to say that Holland had some disguting things, they should have ended the game with just 8 players, Howard Webb was a disgrace.

On a semi related note, and no Jaime i'm not trying to steal your thunder:
Quote
Uruguay's Diego Forlan has won the adidas Golden Ball as the outstanding player at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.

The Atletico Madrid man scored five, including fine strikes against South Africa and Germany, as Uruguay exceeded expectations to reach the semi-finals and then lose the third-place play-off 3-2 to Germany.

Forlan finished in a four-way tie with Thomas Muller, Wesley Sneijder and David Villa for the Golden Boot with five goals; an award Muller took on a tie-break thanks to having more assists.

Muller also picked up the Best Young Player award, while Spain captain Iker Casillas can add the Golden Glove award to his FIFA World Cup winners' medal.

I don't think Webb had a bad game really (apart from the non-corner decision, oh dear) it was a very hard game to referee. But, I think he was too scared to dole out a red card earlier, which he really should have. There was so much said about him not giving a red card or penalty in the world cup before the final ... it was obvious he was too scared of taking over, when he really should have.
A South American ref would have said "I'm the boss biatch, get the hell off my ***" ... or something like that, I'm sure.

And yeah, well done to Forlan!
Rob Green was robbed of the golden glove though! I'm sure the Americans agree.

LOL at this, it's true, referees today lack the attitude to clash against star players, this would never happen against a Pierluigi Collina or a Castrilli (head of the Argentinian Referee federation) but it seems like it's happening more and more, just like Iverson screams himself out of a Tech, footballers do it too.

It's just that they are really scared at *** up in front of the boss on the big stage, remember, referees were actually "auditioning" for this job.
