whats going to happen to TD as he ages? who si going to be the next cornerstone to the franchise? TD replaced the admiral, and it dsoent look like the spurs are going to get another hall of fame forward because they are too good, too consistent

My guess is that Duncan will get older as he ages...

I guess they can tank a season just like they did to get Duncan once their window of oppurtunity has closed.

Ginobili takes over and that is the bottom line.

you know what is funny everybody says the spurs got old etc but let's take a look at the trio of both mavs and suns.

Spurs:

duncan   1976
ginobili    1977
parker     1982

Suns:

Nash    1974   older than duncan
marion 1978
amare 1982

mavs:

dirk     1978
josh howard  1982
terry    1977

wow there is no difference!!!!

suns has a older averaged age than both of them.

so why should the spurs panic???

That's a valid point but the Spurs are the oldest team in the league: http://www.nba.com/news/survey_age_2006.html

yeah ok we are old so what, we're currently 13 in a row. when tim gets to that age we will probaly tank a season and then be right back on top the corresponding one. it's true nash is older but tim is still more worn out because of the position he plays and he has been the go to guy straight out of college while nash didn't do much for the beginning of his career.

why do you need to tank anything. you can get a top draft pick via a trade. fill a teams need and you're golden. they only tanked in 97 because they had a ton of injuries.

LMAO. Good guess.

Also, I've mentioned this in several rants before on this site. You can crack wise all you want about the Spurs age, but thats not going to make them lose. They are still an EXCELLENT team. Deal with it.

I hate the idea of tanking a season, cause it could come back to bite you in the butt.  You play every game with effort, like it's your last.  As for the future of the Spurs, remember that Tony Parker is only 24 years old.  He's younger than D-Wade (although he entered the league 2 years before Wade).  If the Spurs can get draft some young players (if they end up having a bad season or two after Duncan gets old or retires), then they get young talent, which is the building block of the future.

they will be division contenders if not championship contenders for a long time. just like what happened to the stockton and malone jazz. they never had any significant help alongside them but they made it far each year

when duncans goes they probably have to start from scatch like alot of others teams did like the jazz, bulls, lakers after the magic era it happens unless they can draft a franchise big man, because a superstar big man wins championships.

I don't think Tony Parker is good enough to be the cornerstone of a franchise, even if he is only 24...

tony will never be the franchise player and if he ever is on anyother team, i gurantee that team would be sub .500.
