The Gilbert Arenas Destination thread

Nabbing Wall as the first pick is a no brainer. the guy has future all star qualities and is definitely the best among the class.

The Wizards just acquired Hinrich from the bulls too (or are about to acquire) which means that Arenas may not have any room in this Wizards team.

What are his possible destinations?

1. A team who has cap space but has failed to acquire a superstar FA in this draft class
2. Still in Washington with Hinrich as backup PG/SG and might play SG
3. Bought out/contract terminated (LMAO)
4. A decent trade elsewhere (like Arenas for expirings and 2 first round picks)

I'll put my money on Toronto.  They seem like a pretty good spot for him.

#1 or #4. But #4 doesn't need to be expirings even, probably just a contract that's 2 years maximum.

#1 is probably the likely option if he were to get moved.  #4 seems highly unlikely that they would get a haul like that for someone with Gilbert's baggage and albatross of a contract.

^ yeah that's what i meant with #4. i said LIKE expirings (it would also include players with like 2 years left,ala moon considering that arenas has a long contract that would cause problems to the wizards rebuilding plans)

I personally would trade him to the Bobcats for Diaw and Diop.

Other destination I can see is to Toronto for either Calderon or Turkoglu (or both); or to the Magic for either Carter or Lewis.

I would never trade for him, It's a waste of money and time, you are basically killing the next 5 years of your franchise if you trade for him, unless you are already screwed and you want to be a little less screwed I don't see it.

Diaw has two years (9m, 9m) and Diop has three (6.5m, 7m, 7.3m)

Arenas has four years (17m, 19m, 20m, 22m)

So yeah Bobcats will pick up a lot more money - but he is Gilbert Arenas afterall.  He was bad last year but still put up 20 and 7, and he is a big name.  If MJ is looking to make a splash and attract some attendance he might bite.

Also consider that Larry Brown took Iverson to the Finals so he might know something about how to use Arenas.

In contrast, Diaw is massively overpaid as a backup quality player, and Diop is completely money thrown into the drain.

I think it's a good trade for both team.
