The New Jersey Nets signed Travis Outlaw to a 5-year/$35 million contract to fill the void at the SF position. Don't get me wrong, I liked Outlaw during his time in Portland, but I just don't see him as the starting SF on this team. I feel like he is better suited in a Lamar Odom-esque role. A high-class bench player that is starting material; a person who if called upon, can replace a starting star; someone that you want in on that last play, and that you could trust with the last shot.

I will say that I like the signing because it fills a need, and thats what free agency is for, no? Plus, people can not complain that he is making too much, when he is in fact making the league average. I like the length of the deal too, because it gives ample time for the Nets to develop their younger players without burdening them with the responsibility of scoring.

I would have Outlaw be the team's power forward.  I absolutely do not want to see Williams and James lose any playing time.

$7 million for a player coming off the bench on a team that won't make the Playoffs is pretty tough to swallow.

With Lee gone now, probably.

TWill is going to be a starter no matter what.

At the end of the day, I won't be surprise if Morrow beats Outlaw for the starting job.

We'll see.  I for one would rather have Terrence on the court instead of Morrow.

agreed, i think that him and harris can flow between the 1&2 positions when on the court together. it would be a lot of fun to see

Lol.  I'm sure.  But without a true playmaker, I am sure there will be times when it'll be painful to watch some of the Nets games.

I seriously doubt you'll get 30 quality minutes from Outlaw night in and night out. He's just not that kind of player. I hope he really does develop into a standout starter. I just have my doubts.

I think the team's rotation will be Lopez, Murphy, Favors and Outlaw every once in awhile at the C/PF, with Outlaw, Williams, Morrow and Harris at the SF/SG slots.  I can easily see Farmar and Harris sharing a lot of court time together.
