I thought we could use this topic to talk about Raptors rumors, leading up to the start of next season.

Hill a great fit for Raptors
May 26
Toronto Star (scroll down): "(Grant) Hill would be a great fit here, he's a first-class citizen (he might be the most humble superstar athlete I've ever met, dating back to his Detroit days), he's still got game and if he came off the bench, he'd shred backups. And because he wouldn't have to log huge minutes, he might even stay healthy. "

Raptors may deal for pick
May 26
Toronto Star: "The rumblings you've heard are correct, you can be sure Bryan Colangelo is going to try to get into the draft, but I think it'd be by buying a pick rather than trading for one. Maybe he offers money and Juan Dixon or Joey Graham but the money will be the thing... That'd be the likes of Philadelphia, which has three picks; Detroit and Phoenix, with two each. A lot of people might look to Atlanta or Phoenix but I'm not sure the Hawks will deal No. 11 and I'm not sure Phoenix would want to deal with the former Suns exec."

You do realize these "rumours" are from Doug Smith's mailbag?

Yeah, and there is nothing wrong with being optimistic.

Nice thread idea. Keep it up. I like the thought of Hill coming off the bench, and his wife is from Canada so who knows? but really, if he can stay healthy (Big If) he can play a big role for the Raptors, not to mention show the young kids the ropes.

With Hill and Parker, we would have the classiest SG/SF tantum in the NBA! lol

Yeah, I like that ideal a lot too.
I'd really, REALLY, really like a Graham (+money) or a Graham, Dixon (+little money) for a draft pick though. With a clutter at the 2/3 positions, I would be upset to see Parker only get around 28 minutes a game, while Hill (if he came to T.O.) get around 20. With Graham and/or Dixon gone, our key players will be sufficient minutes.. unlike Atlantas swingmen!

Grant Hill wouldn't be too expensive either, he's not going to get anymore then a midlevel exception from any team. As for the Suns not wanting to deal with their former exec, he didn't really leave on bad terms, his dad is still the owner and they gave toronto permission to talk to him. And if the deal is right, who cares. if TO made a good deal with NY, I won't be pissed that Isiah Thomas was the guy on the otherside, as long as he doesn't screw over Toronto again.
