As much as I like Budinger, I really don't understand why Kahn would trade out of the first round before seeing what players might fall to the Wolves. Stupid move, imo.

Buddinger is an average wing in the NBA; The idea that the Wolves and Kahn would be able to: 1) select the a player that would preform at or above average level with the 18th pick as a rookie. 2) Be able to thrive in the RA system while seeing 30 min's a game are both long shots.
The wolves will be able to replace the 35 min's of epic horrible Wes Johnson production(PER 8.1) with average wing production will be good for 5-7 additional wins next year.

It's decent value-wise, and financially it's good for the Wolves (I'm guessing Kahn has a free agent target this offseason), but considering how deep this draft is, I don't think trading before the draft was advisable.

i think it's fair to assume the team lets him go. billy hoyle subsequently gets the majority of his minutes, which i'm perfectly okay with.

I just hope it was Adelman's idea to trade the pick for Budinger.

On the real, other than Jonny Flynn sucking ball hair, what has David Kahn done that's been THAT bad?

As much as this trade kinda ruined my Thursday night, I feel like getting a solid player is better than watching Kahn draft the obvious bust followed by the next team drafting a great player as usual. I hope Kahn trades into the late first round because Festus Ezeli would be the perfect backup for Pek.

Wes Johnson could score on his own in college, and Kurt Rambis was the hottest assistant coach in the NBA when Minnesota hired him.
