Ok, Mike D is gone, and with Amare out, is Melo's team and it's working.
But with Amare back, are the knicks going to be better? I mean: Melo is an ISO player, playing from the same spots of Amare (beside p&r). To be effective, they need space. And the knicks, without Amare, are spacing the floor better. As they weren't with him.
Plus, Amare has been a beast all his career with pick and roll, and with Melo out, and with Lin, it was working too. Basically, the Knicks of Melo/Chandler/shooters and the Knicks with Lin/Amare/Chandler/shooters, are two good teams. Once mixed, still a big question mark.

Since Amare's contract is not going anywhere soon, and re-sign Lin is going to cost, you are basically stuck there, hoping they find the magic chemistry. How you can win a ring with that?

They've got the pieces: two great scorers, two great defenders (one perimeter, one interior), a legit sixth man, and solid complementary pieces. However, they're still a long ways apart on offense. They have to find a way for Carmelo and Amar'e to coexist. Both are good enough scorers to make it easier on one another, but both operate in similar positions. Until that happens, it's unlikely they're ready to contend. Carmelo is a phenomenal scorer, but it's unrealistic to expect him to keep scoring at this rate with efficiency.

The Knicks winning a ring would be Paradise City.
