The consensus pick as the top point guard in the draft, Mike Conley Jr. is scheduled to work out Saturday at the Berto Center. It's unclear whether the Bulls consider Conley, the son of track and field star (and former Luther South High School standout) Mike Conley Sr. to be a potential keeper, trade bait or an excuse for another meal on the company credit card. If the Bulls opt for a more traditional point guard, it could pave the way for the move of Kirk Hinrich to off guard, which would reduce the demands on him as a floor leader. Paxson wants Hinrich to take part in a rigorous strength program this summer. In turn, guard Ben Gordon could be expendable in a trade for an inside scorer, a move the front office strongly considered before the trade deadline. Gordon is eligible to become a restricted free agent after the 2007-08 season. In another scenario, Conley could be drafted then moved to Portland in a multiplayer deal that would include forward-center Zach Randolph coming to the Bulls.

Its been a known rumor that Portland has been trying to trade for atlanta's 3rd pick so that they can get conley. If in fact that atlanta decides to do the right thing and draft a Great talented powerforward in horford and then with the 11th pick try to go for a point guard. Then the bulls can get conley JR by some freakish luck and trade for zach randolf - probably better than anyone they could get at the 9 spot in the draft.

Yeah, between #2 thru #8 Conley will fall somewhere between there.  Someone would most likely want the #1 rated point guard than the #2 rated power forward or #2 rated small foward.

Kirk Hinrich actually started at shooting guard for a while, if you remember, until ben gordon began starting.  People have always said that he's not a true point guard, and he's already guarding bigger players, so its not implausible for him to be put there permanently.  I would love for them to bring ben in off the bench, he was perfect in that role, but I don't think he would be agreeable to that, and he probably wouldn't want to re-sign.  You'd also have to get a low post scorer in another way.  There are a million ways the bulls could go with this draft.
