There are other examples of this happening and what happens the next year ends up having nothing to do with the future.

Kings almost beat the Lakers in 1999–00 and then lost to them again in the Conference Finals in 2001–02, not back to back years but same timeframe.

Is that the best example you could think of?

1) The Kings came super close to beating the Lakers in 2002.  They were a missed Horry three from going up 3-1 in that series.

2) Peja Stojokovic played only 3 games in that series, played 20 mpg in those three games, and shot 10% from three.

You have to bring something better than that.

1999–2000 Jail Blazers lost to the Lakers in 7 games and then got swept in the first round the next season by the same Lakers.
