He had 24 points...but on 8/25 shooting though, only 2 assists, 2 rebounds and 4 TOs too-all in significantly more minutes than any of his teammates.
In '96 it was 26 on 8/20, 5 REB, 2 ASSISTS, 7 TO, again in heavy minutes.

it really hard to judge him he didnt play professionaly as european leagues were amaturs and the talent in europe was very poor in the 80's and early 90's
WHAAAAAT??? European leagues have been professional for decades. The fact that the average level was lower does not mean that in Europe team didn't have professional teams and elite talents Drazen Petrovic played in Europe in the same period where Schmidt played, and when he came in the NBA he was becoming an All-Star before his tragic death. In 80s and eraly 90s USA college teams were starting to lose against the other National teams(thus leading to the formation of the original Dream team in 1992), Sabonis was in his prime and kicking out american big man asses at the Olympics in 1988 There's no reason to believe that he would have not performed at good level...how good, nobody knows. That's the reason of the discussion But saying that weren't Professional teams in Europe is just stupid, basketball has always been a sport played professionally all around the world(differently from the other American major sports)

I'm too young to have seen him play when he was at his peak, but I have seen enough video of him. I live half an hour away from Caserta where he built the greatest part of his legend, and everyone who follows basket in the area remember the great battle between him and and petrovic in the Final of European Cup Winner's Cup in 1989(oscar scored 44,petrovic 62!!!)

A great volume scorer...maybe not "Petrovic/Nowitzki-good", but just a notch behind them in the conversation for the best "non American" player ever. In Caserta he's been a legend, but had the good luck to play with one of the most intelligent PGs ever (Gentile)
