It's all about number one. He looks healthy in the shoe commercial footage and did during pre-games at the end of last year. They even posted footage of him dunking on 8 foot rims in Spain...lol. The coaches say he is 100%, The Doctors say he could be a better player then before. BUT until he does it on the court during game action for several months in a row, then no one really knows.
And does it really matter if their the 8th seed in the East or the 1st ? It all still comes down to being the best team out of 4 teams in the east (Miami, Indiana, Brooklyn, Chicago) So I could see a slow start as something management can use as an excuse to trade Deng before the deadline. Even with out Deng I see them playing in the eastern conference finals.
I'd like to see them face Miami in the 1st round of the playoffs. (7th seed Bulls vs. 2nd seed Heat) Have a slow start (out the playoff picture) but Rose shows he is back at full strength. Make a trade of Deng sometime in December or January, Then finish really strong wavering between the 6th and 7th seed, to settle at number 7 and face Miami 1st round and beat them.

If they had a incredibly slow start (which won't happen with Thibs as coach) and management tried to trade Deng (probably won't happen) Thibs' head would explode. Even if Rose isn't 100% right out of the gate this team will be in contention for a 4-5 seed at least (see last year).
As it is, probably something in the mid-high 50s for wins at least and close with Indy for the division title. Might take a bit for things to gel but after that they will be at least as good as they were pre-ACL tear. Assuming they are healthy for the most part.

People needs to know that Indiana won 49 games last year. Hibbert can't play at Playoff lvl throught 82 games. Chicago will win more games than Indiana in RS, that's a given. I can see 58-59 wins

I thought about that when the whole beef with Thibs vs. Gar surfaced over Ron Adams firing. I asked myself the same question. Why would they *** off Thibs... ? Easy answer is their the Bulls Front Office...lol. But what if they have their eyes on another coach long-term? Maybe say...... Greg Popovich... Tim Duncan is like a year out from retirement... Parker maybe 2 years... and Ginoboli the same... What if Pop decides to walk and take his legend elsewhere ... All the greats have... Even the immortal Phil Jackson left a really good Chicago team ... food for thought. Thibs is great, but he isn't at a Phil or Pat or Pop level yet. I would even argue he hasn't even passed Doc right ?

Considering the Bulls finished 5th in the East without Derrick fucking Rose, you're gonna have a really hard time convincing me the Bulls somehow regress to a bordeline playoff team just to trade Deng.

How do you determine coaching tiers? Team success? Coaches don't even play in those games. To say Rivers or Pops actually makes this team better or more effective just doesn't make reasonable sense. Coaches make a difference when one coach has experience and the other one does not, but one great coach isn't going to "out coach" the other one if both coaches are great. The only thing Pop and Doc have over Thibs is more HC experience and rings. Chicago's been a much better defensive team than both those teams so you could easily argue losing Thibs would actually make the Bulls worse off.

How so? He led a couple shitty Magic teams to just over .500 records then was given the boot. He had a decent first year in Boston then was awful until they put together 3 HOFs with Rondo. Thibs more or less led those great defenses Boston had. Doc did a good job of keeping egos in check, I'll give him that. Outside of that I think he is overrated. He's in great shape going into this year with a stacked team though. If Del Negro can take them to the playoffs, Doc should be able to get them pretty deep. I think Thibs is still an easy choice for me though for the majority of teams.
