I believe they are interested in him due to Burke being out. Brandon Rush might be an interesting acqusition for him to back up the 2 or 3 he can shoot and drive. Not sure the Bulls would be interested and might be using Teague to back Rose and Hinrich since they might be playing side by side at times.

This might be crazy, but if Utah can get a reasonable extension on Hayward, how about Hayward, Brandon Rush, and Marvin Williams for Deng, Teague, and Charlotte's 1st?

That'd be awesome, but there's no way they'd do that.. Cheesy I wouldn't mind landing Rush for Teague though and signing a decent backup pg..maybe ask for a Steve Blake trade even?  Or sign Boobie Gibson or Delonte?

No way who would do that?  Chicago could get something in return for Deng, and can turn that future pick into talent today, and Utah can continue to tank, and add another pick to their horde of 1st round picks.

I can't see Utah giving up Hayward for Deng haha...Hayward's still a young guy that's nice for rebuilding...I could see them maybe dumping Hayward if they acquire Wiggens or someone for a vet to lead the team, but it'd make more sense to stay a young rebuilding team for now...although the Bobcats pick would be pretty enticing...Deng potentially would put them outta the top few picks though.  He'd give them a second all star, and that's bad for tanking.  (Favors being the first all star, which I think is realistic)

LOL at the idea that Deng could win them that many more games.

I was originally going to propose Chicago send Mirotic's rights instead of Charlotte's 1st, but I do not think the Bulls would do that.

Well, it shouldn't take that much, and Deng will bring a lot to the table in terms of leadership, veteran qualities, and so on and help the team a lot.  And he's a better two way player than Hayward.

Also Mirotic will probably have more value than the Bobcat's pick, so I'd agree with that...I just think Deng for Hayward would give them a more of a want to win now type of feel rather than tanking...you know I mean?

No, I do not.  Utah replacing Hayward with Deng would not really change much.  If anything, they would maybe lose a couple more games.  He is a really inefficient scorer, and while he is a very good one-on-one defender, he does not do much for team defense.

I think it helps Utah tank and gets them a nice future pick and it helps the Bulls by giving them an up and coming scorer to help Rose.

I don't think it is realistic this season.

Explain how that is possible.  If your the best man defender on your team, I'd say that helps your team defense quite a lot.  Seriously, how can you be a good defender but not a good team defender?  Especially Deng, whose won all-defensive team and is the COG to what the Bulls do defensively.  If you can limit Lebron James' production, how is that not good for team defense?  I've never heard anyone say

"well this player is actually very good defensively, it's a shame he's not a good team defender."

Help defense is a thing.  Part of the reason why his defense looks so good is because of the team's overall defense.  That is why the team does not really give up much more when Deng sits.

So you're saying Deng isn't a good help defender? I'm confused, he's the best wing defender the Bulls have had in the last 10 years.  It's not like he all of a sudden became a good defender when Thibs came to town, he's been solid for awhile now, and that was before the Bulls defense ranked anywhere near the top of the league.

He's not some defensive anchor, but surround him with other players that can play defense, and a coach that preaches D, and all of a sudden you have a team that ranks among the top of the league.  If you look at the makeup of this team, Deng and Noah are the defensive cogs, it's not like Boozer is a good defender at all, and Rose really isn't much of a defender either.  Butler was gift wrapped to the Bulls and is developing into a very solid defender, but i have a hard time believing the Bulls would be as good defensively without Deng.

You talk about good defenders on the Bulls, and yet you totally ignore Gibson and Asik.

All I am saying is that a good one-on-one defender has a lot less value than a good defensive anchor.  Over the years there is just not a very strong correlation between when Deng plays and how good the team's defense is.

With Burke out 8-12 weeks this may be pursued.
