Quote
The Chicago Bulls are worried about the possibility of paying the $250,000 bonus in Taj Gibson's contract if he makes the NBA All-Defensive second team and how that would impact their total salary in regards to the luxury tax, according to a report.

The Bulls thought they had wiggle room on the luxury tax after trading Luol Deng but are now reportedly worrying about Gibson's potential pay.

The Bulls have played with just 12 players on their roster and will have to sign a 13th player by Feb. 14.

Gibson signed a four-year contract extension with the Bulls on October of 2012.

That is a great find. Those interested should take the time and read the whole article, and Sham has always been legit source in my book. The big deal is avoiding the repeater tax. By avoiding it they can not only avoid the tax, but field a roster next season and if they decide to $pend the money on a title run not be a 3x repeater. I will be surprised if they are finished trading players this season. I'd like to see them keep Gibson, but there has been chatter teams are calling. To me I would love to see them dump Boozer for Okafor, but will see. They have also been rumored to trades involving Hinrich and Dunleavy. So they could dump one of their salaries and avoid the tax, however they would have to take back less salary. They also have those TPE's which could help unbalance the salary return in a trade in their favor. Anyway you look at it, It seems certain a trade is coming in the next 12 days.

I agree. Okafor's deal is for slightly less money, and the Bulls could throw in Dunleavy and take back a player(s) they can use a TPE on and their done. (2m Deng & 1m Teague)

The Bulls could player Taj at starting PF, and bring Fry off the bench. The latest word out of Spain is Real Madrid is pushing hard to keep Nikola Mirotic for another season. Which would be the year Fry's contract expires, and at around the cost it would take to sign Mirotic that summer.

You do realize that both teams need to agree to a trade, right?

Touché.

I just reported what I have read, and discussed the possibility. However, both the rumors on the web about Gasol and now Boozer going to the Suns makes me feel the source is in the Suns organization. I haven't read anything about Boozer for Gasol, So wouldn't you think if it was Chicago or L.A. leaking you would hear about such a rumor.

At least Boozer could give the Suns something this season.

Sure, like inefficient scoring and some of the worst defense in the league.

My point is as far as we know Okafor is out for the season and no help to PHX.

Yeah, and they have done just fine without an inefficient, overpriced, and over-the-hill Boozer.  Why give up value, tie up cap, and take away minutes from developing youth to bring in Boozer?

Well they were flirting with bringing in Pau, he would have taken pt away from someone.

But Pau has more going for him.  First, he is expiring, so he does not tie up future cap.  Second, Pau is a center, which is actually the position of need for the Suns, and Boozer cannot play center.  Also, Pau has proven that he can actualky be useful in a fast paced offense, as evidenced by his recent improved play.
