The New York Knicks are expected to pursue a trade of Amar'e Stoudemire in the offseason before he enters the final season of his contract.

The Knicks hope they could exchange Stoudemire for the contract of an impact player on a bad contract, such as Eric Gordon of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Expiring contracts have seemingly become less valuable under the NBA's current CBA.

Trading Stoudemire for a contract longer in length would also compromise the Knicks' plans for cap space in 2015.

well I was dreaming about this for last 2 years or so
but it cannot happen
next year there will be zero teams that will do that kind of deal
and to do that you also need to send some picks and some kind of asset to smooth the deal
Knicks have exactly one asset (Hardaway Jr.) and two tradeable players (Chandler and Shumpert)
Melo is not leaving because he has as much pros as he has cons and he earns superstar salary
because he is a superstar
I think that this summer Knicks need to use the stretch provision on Bargnani
trade Chandler, Shumpert and try to trade Felton and JR Smith
and just start from scratch with Melo or without him
anyway
next year there are going to be just few teams willing to trade for Amare and the only deal
that I can think of right now would be sending Amare and next year 1st round pick
to Boston for Rondo and Wallace (second or third worst deal in the NBA)
I still think McGee is the worst or second worst deal because it's three more years long
and he is just really bad at basketball

It won't be an easy move for sure but I like that hey are trying something, hopefully they can work something out with Boston though I doubt it involves Rondo.

I think that next year there are going to be at least 10 worst
contracts the the current one that Amare has and it's going to be just one year long
maybe there is a 1% chance for him to decline the early termination option?
just kidding. that's never going to happen
last 20 games can be a good audition for Amare and if he has solid stats
there can be some suitors and there are always couple of teams that need inside scoring

Knicks need to do something because Melo doesn't want to hear about 2015.

I think that Stat has looked good this year and he will be hard to trade but more possible
this offseason then ever before but Bargs will be nearly impossible to trade
good thing is that he has just one more year too

I'd rather keep STAT than Bargs.
