Are we talking an 8th seed playoff team? Because that's not a contender, and I won't settle for less than that ... breh.

Really though, expect more of the same old next season, sadly ... barring a miracle.

And the idea of Ryan Kelly having to start at PF for longer than this season Sad

seriously doubt they'll have Pau AND Stephenson.  one or the other..maybe neither, but not both.  unless you see Pau taking a 1yr deal or somethin.  that cap space is crucial to 2015 plans.

that being said, i could see something happening where Parker falls to LAL @ say the #4 pick and LAL trades him to Cleveland for Irving.  LAL has no need for Parker when Love is around the corner.  then sign Stephenson.

Irving
Stephenson
Kobe
RKelly

Flacco kind of is a bum..Yeah I get that he isn't that good..

I have been waning slightly on my desire to sign Stephenson.  The Lakers pick next year is only top 5 protected, so tanking next season and keeping the additional cap space for the future and having a top 5 pick next season might be better.  Kobe and Nash's contracts will get the Lakers close to the salary floor and I would say just tank, instead of signing Stephenson and almost definitely still missing the playoffs.

I actually like the white mamba, he's been a nice find for a 48th pick and having a better season than most of the rookies taken way ahead of him (which isn't saying much), could have used him last season. But going from the likes of Bynum/Pau and Odom off the bench to ... Ryan Kelly as starter. That's just depressing.

Who would the Lakers go after as their next choice if Bosh stays for a chance at a 4 peat?

They could just conserve their cap space.  Actually tanking next season might be the smart move.  Lebron, Bosh, and MAYBE Stephenson (I am on the fence on him now) are the only guys I would want the Lakers to give long-term money to this off season.  Bledsoe would be tempting, but not for near max or max money.

How much would you be willing for them to give Stephenson and be comfortable with the deal?

Money is not really the point.  To me the option is

Stephenson

Or

(Hopefully) a top 5 pick in 2015 and additional cap space

I doubt Kobe and whatever the team the Lakers can pull together next season would be any good (Wiggins, Exum, Vonleh, etc will need time to develop), so if Lakers just tank they can get this year's high pick, next year's (hopefully) top 5 pick, and then go out and try to sign guys in 2015 and 2016.  Stephenson is not going to make them a playoff team, but he is good enough that the Lakers would probably have to give up their pick to the Suns next season.
