Quick question...Parson's team option was declined because if it would've been picked up he'd be unrestricted next year, correct? Also, what kind of contract do you think he'll get? He's a player to keep an eye on in the future.

Exactly, by declining his option he becomes a restricted free agent.  Apparently it allows Houston the ability to shed some salary, possibly sign a max free agent (Melo, Lebron, etc), and still match any offer he receives.  It also makes it easier to do a S&T, possibly for Kevin Love.

I see him getting Gallo type money.  About $11-12 million a season.  Anything 12+ million means a team is trying to mess with Houston.

Really?? $11-12 mil? I was thinking $9mil at the very most.

It might seem a bit high, but that seems like it is around the the market for a guy like him, especially since he is a restricted free agent.

He is an efficient scorer, good shooter, good athleticism, decent defender, good size, etc.  His play making has been developing nicely.  He has been taking an increasing amount of ball handling and play making duties.  He is a SF who put up 4 assists per 36 minutes last season with a 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.  He can break down defenses by putting the ball on the floor, so he is not just a shooter.  He can play either forward position.

I actually think Parsons would be a better fit for Charlotte than Stephenson would be.  I could see Charlotte throwing money at Parsons and daring Houston to match.  I expect someone to throw money at Parsons, and I see it being around $11 million.  I would say he is comparable to Gallo and Deng when they got their first non-rookie contract.

Fair enough, taking a closer look at his stats and how there's not really any great free agents this summer, I could see it.
