I'm new to this forum but not the site.
I'm just saying, if you're a Hornets fans, you have to love this off season's potential.
Original name back, playoff experience core, great draft, almost great free agent pick in Hayward, then a better move when it fell through. (toughness and cap wise)

Walker, Stevenson, MKG, Zeller, and Big Al is a decent starting 5
Roberts, PJ, Taylor, Williams, Vonleh and Bismack off the bench not bad
I think Vonleh steals Bismack's minutes
This team finally has depth.
Hats off to Cho, Jordan, Whitfield and the Coaches. GO HORNETS, GO BUZZ CITY!

Yep, I wouldn't have been mad either way.  Lance could indeed prove significantly better than Hayward on a MUCH better price.

All in all key pieces still have to turn the corner and take the next step imo.  A lot of our success last season was overstated when you factor where we've been.

I've got Kemba Lance and Al starting with the forward positions truly up for grabs.  I'm fairly high on Vonleh and I think he eventually wins the job and minutes.  MKG could be a nice small ball 4.  And PJ could start as long as he's hot, people forget he's a lottory talent.

Kemba
Lance
SF could be a number of guys
Vonleh
Big Al

Lance can guard pretty much position 1-3. I could see a line up of Kemba, PJ, Lance, Vonleh and Big Al at the end of the season. We'll have shooters, defenders, spacing, etc.

Like you D2SB, I'm high on Vonleh (still can't believe he fell in our lap), but I'm also high on PJ. NBA body, great shooter. I can see him developing into our 3 and D guy the first season or two and (hopefully) take a bigger leap and role on the team by year 3.

I don't get why put so much pressure on PJ to start when you have a really good all-around player in hendo ready to go and help

I wouldn't say pressure, just that if he realized that potential, he'll be quite an offensive threat.  Which we need, I see him off the bench for significant minutes, Clifford mixing up the more offensive guys with our D specialists.

Hendo whole problem was being shaky from deep-then not really being able to compliment Kemba, and why McBob was so important.  First and foremost Big Al need space to work.  More than anything else I wonder who will step into that starting 4, which proved to be a key position for us.  Lance is more a creator than a knock down shooter at this point, so Lance and PJ with Neal should hold down the 2.

Hendo is great in ways, just not the answer @ 2.  So that leaves the 3 where MKG resides and Marv just signed.  At the end of the day, Hendo/MKG may be traded imo.  I don't see them moving on from MKG just yet, all these things have to play out.

Death2SmallBall really hit the nail on the head, but I want to re-itterate it. We need shooters. We finished 26th last year in 3 pointers. And to top it off, we lost two of our better three point shooters in FA. Big Al is most effective with the floor stretched. PJ does this. With Hendo you don't get that. Now, if Hendo spends all summer working on his 3s (spot up, off the dribble, screens, etc), then he has the 2 slot on lock down. Until then, well, we'll see. Plus, as I said before, we realized we need more shooters as we tried to off him and 24 for Afflalo.

we should be so lucky.  We been waiting on Hendo a long damn time already, I tell ya.  lol

it's kinda like at some point players are who they are.  Kinda like Kobe never been great from 3, he just shoots more of them.  MJ wasn't great from 3.

Hendo and Lance are shaky, but they are still 35% 3pt-shooters last season, and for Marvin is the same
I don't think Charlotte will have great problems in 3pt-shootin(even though obviously they'll be an average- below average 3 pt shooting team), they'll not be forced to put on the wings Hendo and MKG at the same time for most of the game, they can put regularly on the floor a team with like 4 35% 3 pt-shooter at the same time surrounding Al if/wehn they need 3 pt-shooting + they can throw from the bench shooters like Neal and hopefully PJ
I think the only thing this team lack is a 3 and D back-up PG, maybe see if Boobie Gibson have something left in the tank or Toney Douglas has becoming a more reliable 3 pt-shooter and sign one of them for the minimum?
