Pacers eye Blake and Pavlovic?

The team still owns a midlevel salary cap exception, a free agency chip awarded to franchises over the cap -- and one of the few ways the Pacers can improve this offseason. The upcoming season's midlevel exception is $5.36 million. "We're certainly going to look at (using) it," Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said last month. Either would require a sign and trade, which creates a real problem for the team.  The salaries they would be moving toward means the Pacers would have to give up a combination of any two from Diogu, Granger, Williams, and Harrison.  Unless you are going to create a bigger package deal.

Milwaukee can not support the bigger package deal, since they don't have the parts at this time.  

Cleveland has the parts, and needs some things we have.  They would Love Oneal, Foster and probably Tinsley.  

Another stumbling block would be trading inside of your own division.

Long story short... too late...  I doubt we get either.

i know the franchise has been trying to get rid of that bad guy image but he fits what the pacers desperately need.

They are in such a bad situation it's not even funny.  And with the Colts winning the Superbowl, it just makes them look even worse.  10 years ago the Pacers dominated this town, now, it's like people don't even care anymore.

It's not just the fact that the Colts won the Super Bowl.  They did it with a team of strong character type people.  

This city can tolerate not winning, and people here seemed pretty tolerable when it came to the Brawl in Detroit.  With player after player appearing in the paper for stupidity off the court, however, people start supporting the team they respect more.

The loudest I have ever heard Conseco, other than Reggie's number "31" retiring, was the night after the Brawl.  We started:

David Harrison (rookie - playing with an injured shoulder)
Austin Croshere (playing with a broken finger, and cracked rib)
James Jones (in his second year after hardly playing during rookie year)
Fred Jones
Eddie Gill (3rd string guard)

Only Player on the bench was John Edwards (rookie - project)

We didn't care that they lost on a last second shot.  We have never seen an effort, put in by any group of guys since that night, that came close to that one.  Injured and exhausted, they were diving for balls, scrapping for everything.  You don't get to see that with the team we have now.

There's a reasonable chance he is. The Blazers have too many people to fit roster spots right now, and signing Blake means one of Jack or Rodriguez is spending a lot of time sitting if they don't get moved.

pacers just need a big man along jo and more people playing time for others. they need cohesiveness more then anything. Not more players to add to the mix.

i think signing magloire would of been a good move to go with JO. and trading Foster for a JJack or MoWilliams
